At IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances), we are passionate about applying science and creativity to improve lives. As a global leader in food, beverage, health, biosciences, and scent solutions, we innovate to make products that people and pets love. Our Pet Food Innovation Lab in Brabrand, Denmark, is at the forefront of developing next-generation solutions for pet nutrition. Here, science meets creativity in a collaborative, dynamic, and friendly environment where ideas turn into real-world impact.
This project focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of selected enzymes from the IFF portfolio in improving protein and fibre digestibility in commercial pet food formulations. Using a simulated canine gastrointestinal system, you will assess enzyme performance under physiologically relevant conditions, focusing on nutrient breakdown and absorption potential.
The most promising results will be validated in our Gut Immunology Lab using canine cell lines, providing insights into how enzymatic supplementation can enhance nutritional value and support digestive health.
You will:
- Set up a simulated canine gastrointestinal system to evaluate enzyme performance under physiologically relevant conditions.
- Focus on nutrient breakdown and absorption potential.
- Explore the most promising results using canine cell lines, providing insights into how enzymatic supplementation can enhance nutritional value and digestive health.
As an intern, you’ll be an integral part of our innovation journey:
- Hands-on lab work: Conduct in vitro digestion experiments and analyse nutrient breakdown.
- Cell-based assays: Assess functional benefits on canine cell lines.
- Collaborate with experts: Work closely with experienced scientists in a supportive and creative environment.
- Contribute to real-world solutions: Help shape the future of pet nutrition.
What we’re looking for?

- Hands-on mindset and willingness to learn new techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Do note that this is a student position, intended for an active university-level student.
Why join us? You’ll be part of an engaged, creative, and collaborative team passionate about innovation and sustainability in pet nutrition. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in applied enzymology, pet food science, and cell biology, while contributing to real-world solutions that make a difference for pets and their owners.
