Role Purpose
The Technology Due Diligence Analyst supports the CTO in evaluating early-stage technologies and
scientific ideas as part of Fresh Start’s venture creation process.
The role focuses on building trust-based relationships with founders, collecting and validating high-
quality technical information, performing structured scientific analysis, and delivering clear, decision-
ready materials to the CTO - quickly, accurately, and consistently.
The analyst owns the technology DD workflow: coordination, documentation, follow-ups, and
progress tracking. The role offers deep exposure to early-stage technologies and close professional
mentorship by the CTO
Reports to: CTO
Key Responsibilities
1. Founder Interface & Information Enablement
• Serve as the main coordination point with founders during the technology DD phase, building
a professional, supportive, and trust-based working relationship.
• Clearly explain the DD process, expectations, and timelines.
• Help founders understand what information is needed and why, in a constructive, enabling
manner.
• Actively support founders in providing complete, high-quality materials as efficiently as
possible.2. Collection of Technical Information & References
• Collect all relevant technical materials, including:
o Technology pitch deck and/or technical presentation
o Technology brief or written description
o PoC data, experimental results, and summaries
o Publication list and relevant scientific papers
o Patent filings or IP status (if available)
• Identify and collect external references:
o Scientific literature
o Relevant technologies and benchmarks
o Patent landscape references
3. Analysis, Quality Review & Gap Identification
• Review all materials critically to ensure clarity, consistency, and sufficiency.
Ensure materials are complete, coherent, and suitable for technical evaluation.
• Identify missing information, unclear assumptions, and inconsistencies across materials.
• Perform structured scientific analysis, including:
o Technology mechanism understanding
o State-of-the-art positioning (how the technology compares to existing approaches and leading
solutions and what is truly new or different relative to current practice).
o Initial TRL assessment (provide an indicative estimate of the technology’s maturity based on available
evidence (e.g., concept, lab validation, PoC))
• Synthesize key scientific questions, risks, and points requiring further examination.
4. Structured Delivery to the CTO & Process Advancement
• Organize and synthesize all findings into clear, concise, decision-ready documents.
• Deliver materials to the CTO in an organized and prioritized manner.
• Actively manage follow-ups with the CTO to:
o Clarify feedback
o Receive guidance on additional focus areas
o Understand what is required to advance decision-making
• Drive the DD process forward through proactive tracking, reminders, and coordination.Candidate Profile
Required
• Ability to build trust, engage founders, and motivate timely collaboration in
high-uncertainty environments.
• Academic background (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in a scientific, engineering,
• or other analytically rigorous field.
• Strong analytical learning ability - able to quickly understand new technological and scientific
domains and evaluate complex technical information.
• Strong professional writing skills - ability to translate complex scientific and technical inputs
into clear, structured, decision-ready documents.
• High ownership, reliability, and consistent follow-through on commitments.
• Ability to drive progress in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, including identifying
solutions, managing friction, and maintaining momentum.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written English – clear, structured, and precise.
Advantage
• Familiarity with FoodTech, AgriTech, biotech, or related fields.
• Experience with literature reviews, patent searches, or applied research.
• Experience working with early-stage technologies or R&D teams.
Working Style
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role in a small and fast-moving team. The ideal candidate is
curious, disciplined, service-oriented, and comfortable working closely with senior leadership and
entrepreneurs. The role requires initiative, responsiveness, and the ability to move processes forward
independently.
Work Location
This is a full-time, on-site position based at Fresh Start’s offices in Kiryat Shmona.
The role requires daily physical presence and is not a hybrid or remote position.
