Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Annotation & Research Specialist to join our team and support the development of high-quality machine learning datasets in the AgTech domain.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of plant health expertise, and data annotation, focusing on crop disease datasets. You will be responsible for annotating and reviewing data, improving annotation guidelines, supporting validators, and collaborating closely with the ML team and plant disease experts to continuously improve data quality.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone who combine strong plant health expertise with a structured, data-driven mindset, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Responsibilities:
Annotate and review datasets related to crop diseases and plant health, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Analyze annotated data to identify systematic and recurring errors, and propose improvements to annotation specifications and guidelines.
Create, maintain, and update annotation guides, specifications, and reference materials (wiki) for crops and plant diseases, including research and adaptation for new crops and data types.
Support and train validators by developing training materials, conducting onboarding and training sessions, and providing structured feedback on annotation quality.
Implement validation batches and contribute to quality assessment processes for annotation performance.
Collaborate closely with the ML team and plant disease experts to clarify requirements, improve dataset quality, and align data specifications with model needs.
Requirements:
Proven ability to visually identify plant diseases and symptoms from images.
Strong knowledge of plant diseases and plant health.
Ability to analyze data, identify recurring issues, and improve guidelines and processes.
Experience creating and maintaining clear documentation (guides, specifications, knowledge bases).
Strong attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to work.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Fluency in English and Russian
BSc in Agronomy, Biology, or a related field
