Process Operation & Scale-Up Engineer

Role Overview
Responsible for optimizing and scaling food processes from lab & pilot scale to commercial manufacturing,
ensuring performance, quality, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead scale-up of food processes from lab & pilot to industrial production
• Process optimization process parameters & troubleshooting
• Translate R&D formulations into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
• Design and execute pilot trials and factory runs with internal teams and CMOs
• Identify process bottlenecks and implement yield, cost, and throughput improvements
• Support technology transfer to manufacturing sites
• Define process specifications, SOPs, and control strategies
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
• BSc/MSc in Food Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field
• Hands-on experience in food process scale-up and optimization
• Strong understanding of unit operations and food manufacturing equipment, practical & hands-on
• Experience working with pilot plants and industrial production lines
• Ability to analyze process data, document and drive continuous improvement
Preferred Experience
• Experience in fats, emulsions, proteins, or structured food systems
• Background in alternative proteins, ingredients, or food-tech startups
• Familiarity with process economics
• Experience working with contract manufacturers
