About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Chemical Engineer to join our Haverhill team, specialising in reaction chemistry, process development, and vacuum distillation within a chemical manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in designing, optimising, and scaling up processes, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do
- Design, optimise, and troubleshoot chemical processes with a focus on reaction chemistry and vacuum distillation.
- Lead technical projects, ensuring smooth and safe scale‑up from laboratory development to full‑scale manufacturing.
- Operate Siemens PCS7 control systems for automated process control, data acquisition, and batch management.
- Facilitate HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA reviews for both new and existing processes.
- Implement and maintain robust process safety management systems aligned with regulatory and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Production, Maintenance, and EHS teams to drive performance and ensure compliance.
- Prepare and review process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and risk assessments.
- Provide guidance and mentor junior engineers, supporting capability development within the team.
What You Bring
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in chemical manufacturing with clear expertise in process chemistry and vacuum distillation.
- Proven ability to lead HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA assessments.
- Strong understanding of process safety management and regulatory expectations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in the Fragrance Ingredients industry.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with additional automation or control systems.
- Strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and responsible operations.
