Genscript is seeking an Associate Scientist, Cell Culture for our Production team in Piscataway, NJ.
The estimated salary range is $60,000 - $70,000, depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Performing routine molecular biology techniques including PCR amplification, restriction digestion, and ligation to assemble expression vectors as outlined in the DS (Order Design) specifications.
Executing the transformation of recombinant DNA into competent cells (microbial or mammalian) and maintaining high-quality seed stocks for production runs.
Supporting upstream production by monitoring cell growth, viability, and metabolic parameters in shake flasks or small-scale bioreactors.
Troubleshoot technical issues in production protocols and propose effective solutions.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance workflow efficiency and product quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve production targets and timelines.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in molecular biology techniques.
Conducting plasmid DNA extraction (Miniprep/Maxiprep) and coordinating with the Sequencing Department to verify construct integrity before moving to the expression phase.
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace in the Piscataway facility, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and reagents are stocked to prevent production delays.
Job Requirements:
Master’s or PhD degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field) is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with relevant work experience will also be considered.
Prior experience in cell culture, cell expression protein is highly preferred.
Hands-on experience in a laboratory or production setting is a plus.
Fast learner with the ability to quickly adapt to new techniques and protocols.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Location Requirement: Must be able to work on-site in Piscataway, NJ.
