As the Director of Product Development, you will own the innovation pipeline—leading the strategy, formulation, and execution of new and existing products that fuel business growth and elevate BodyHealth’s reputation for quality and efficacy. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams—R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance, and Manufacturing—and work directly with the company’s owners, to ensure every product meets rigorous standards, delivers exceptional consumer value, and complies with all regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the full product development lifecycle—from concept through commercialization—ensuring timely, high-quality launches.
Research market trends, emerging ingredients, and consumer insights to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
Develop and refine nutritional supplement formulations in collaboration with labs, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Ensure all formulations comply with FDA CFR 111, NSF Certification, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Partner with Quality Assurance to establish robust testing protocols and safeguard product integrity.
Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to maintain full compliance across all products and processes.
Oversee sensory and stability testing to guarantee optimal product performance and self-life.
Manage label development and packaging compliance to meet regulatory requirements and brand standards.
Evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline product development workflows.
Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers, labs, and contract manufacturers to ensure consistent quality and supply chain reliability.
Analyze customer feedback and sales data to enhance existing products and inform new product strategies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives—refining formulas, processes, and packaging for superior consumer experience.
Present product concepts, research findings, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Scientific and Technical Skills
Extensive Knowledge of Chemistry and Biology: A deep understanding of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry is crucial to predict how ingredients will interact under different conditions. This is complemented by knowledge of human physiology, metabolism, and biochemistry.
Ingredient Functionality: Expertise in how different nutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, ergogenic aids) contribute to bodily functions and how they interact with one another (synergy of action) is essential for effectiveness.
Physicochemical Analysis: The ability to conduct tests and manage factors such as pH balance, solubility, stability (reaction to heat, cold, light), and texture is critical for product quality, safety, and shelf life.
Compatible Mixtures: Skill in choosing and blending ingredients that work well together is vital to avoid adverse reactions, maintain potency, and ensure the product remains effective over time.
Laboratory Proficiency: Competency in various laboratory techniques, using equipment like High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and performing stability testing is a fundamental requirement.
Sensory Evaluation: The ability to balance functional benefits with great taste and appealing texture to meet consumer expectations.
Regulatory and Compliance Skills
Regulatory Knowledge: A thorough understanding of local and international regulations, such as FDA/USDA labeling requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), is essential to ensure products are safe and compliant.
