The Senior Product Owner, AI is responsible defining and prioritizing the product roadmap, requirements, and release scope for software capabilities that improve usability, guidance, and workflow efficiency in high-content imaging. This role drives significant impact by giving the development team clear priorities, well-defined requirements, and actionable product decisions that support efficient engineering execution.
This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering and is part of the software engineering team located in Downingtown, PA and will be an on-site role.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
Product Backlog and Roadmap Ownership: Own the product backlog and roadmap for an AI-enabled guidance solution for microscopy workflows, ensuring the team is consistently working on the highest-value problems for customers and the business.
Requirements Definition: Translate high-content imaging workflows, user feedback, and product strategy into Jira epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that are specific, testable, and ready for engineering execution.
Cross-Functional Product Partnership: Work across AI, software engineering, application specialist, and product stakeholders to define requirements, align priorities, and guide release scope for new software capabilities that improve microscopy workflows.
User Research and Workflow Insight: Conduct user research with laboratory customers, imaging specialists, and application specialists to identify workflow pain points, validate product direction, and convert feedback into prioritized product decisions.
Release Readiness and Acceptance Testing: Lead release readiness and product acceptance testing activities by reviewing delivered behavior against acceptance criteria, supporting field enablement, and defining product-level success measures for adoption, workflow quality, and user trust.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
Education: Master's degree or PhD in life science, biology, bioengineering, imaging science, or a related field preferred; bachelor's degree with directly relevant industry experience acceptable.
Experience: 5+ years of Product Owner, Product Manager, or closely related product-definition experience for scientific software, scientific instrumentation, laboratory informatics, or comparable technical products.
Domain Expertise: Hands-on experience with high-content imaging, microscopy, or adjacent life-science workflows used to configure instruments, acquire data, or interpret experimental results.
Product Development Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into Jira epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release scope for Agile software teams.
AI Product Fluency: Familiarity with AI assistant, RAG, and LLM product concepts, including confidence thresholds, hallucination risk, human approval workflows, and deployment tradeoffs.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
Approximately 10% travel for customer visits, field training, and internal planning activities.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Cloud-connected or hybrid migration of desktop or on-premise scientific software products.
LLM API integrations, MCP or WebSocket-based tool integrations, or other AI-enabled product architectures.
Partnering with application specialists, support teams, or commercial teams to develop training materials and gather structured customer feedback.
