How would you help us unlock the full potential of polymer and carbohydrate‑based materials through advanced analytics?
As an Analytical Chemist / Scientist in the Process R&D team, you will play a critical role in the development, optimization, and characterization of polymer‑ and carbohydrate‑based materials. This is a hands‑on laboratory role where you design and execute advanced analytical methods, generate high‑quality data, and translate complex analytical results into actionable insights that support new product development and process optimization. You will work closely with R&D scientists, Regulatory colleagues, and production sites, contributing to global development projects and ensuring analytical excellence throughout the innovation lifecycle. The role combines scientific depth, method development, cross‑functional collaboration, and strong ownership of analytical projects in a dynamic research environment.
The role is based in Kantvik, with primarily on-site working model with possibility for occasional remote work. Be part of a collaborative, innovative, and science‑driven team where together we can achieve greatness and make a real impact. Your potential is our inspiration.
In this role, you will:
- Plan, execute, manage, and report complex analytical experiments and development projects with a high degree of independence.
- Act as a proactive contributor to global Process R&D initiatives.
- Support new product development and polymer process optimization through robust analytical insights.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Regulatory, and Production teams across sites.
- Evaluate, develop, and implement new analytical techniques and technologies as project needs evolve.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to laboratory personnel within project teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in EHS practices, safety culture, and daily laboratory operations.
- Apply advanced analytical methods to understand molecular weight, structure, purity, and performance of carbohydrate‑based polymers.
What Makes You the Right Fit
- An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Hands‑on experience in polymer or carbohydrate characterization.
- Strong expertise in chromatographic techniques, particularly SEC/GPC.
- Proven experience in analytical method development.
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and convert them into clear, actionable conclusions.
- A strong commitment to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS).
- A team‑oriented mindset and respect for people and collaboration.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills and a continuous learning attitude.
- Willingness to work hands‑on with analytical instrumentation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Solid IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
How Would You Stand Out?
- Experience with LC‑MS, GC‑MS, HPAEC‑PAD, XRD, FTIR, DSC, or TGA.
- Background in cellulose, polysaccharides, or hydrocolloids.
- Knowledge of linkage analysis, carbohydrate derivatization, or structural elucidation.
- Experience in bioprocess, chemical, or pulp & paper industries.
- Involvement in external R&D collaborations.
- Familiarity with ISO, GLP, or GMP frameworks.
- Experience in data analysis or modelling.
Why Choose Us?
