For our new Collaborative Research Center (CRC 1780) “Food System Diversification for
Sustainable Nutrition” (FoodDiverse), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), we are recruiting for the following positions to start as soon as possible, initially for three years with the option to extend:
24 doctoral researchers &
8 postdoctoral researchers
in the broader field of sustainable food systems
All positions are in TV-L pay grade 13 (65% for doctoral and 100% for postdoctoral researchers).
The FoodDiverse CRC analyzes relationships between diversification at various food system levels
(e.g., agriculture, markets, diets) and planetary health in Germany and Ghana, in close cooperation
with the University of Ghana. The researchers come from various disciplines (e.g., agronomy,
agricultural economics, sociology, environmental sciences, ecology, nutrition, human health) and
are integrated into 21 different CRC projects (see www.zef.de/fooddiverse).
Your tasks: Your profile: We offer: • Conduct research on the topics of the CRC and its projects, including
method development, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and publica-
tion of results (for doctoral researchers, also preparation of dissertation)
• Travel internationally for data collection, cooperation with partners, and
presentation of results at conferences and workshops
• University degree (Master for doctoral researcher, Doctorate for postdoc-
toral researcher positions) in subjects relevant for the respective CRC pro-
ject(s)
• Experience with food system-related topics (for postdoctoral researchers
documented through publications); interest in interdisciplinary cooperation
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally
• Stimulating international and interdisciplinary research and training envi-
ronment; excellent networks of national and international research part-
ners
• Full funding for field work, travel, and related research costs
• Support in personal career development
