Position Summary
Balchem is seeking a Nutrition Science (NS) Director for the APAC region to support innovation and commercialization within our Minerals and Nutrients (M&N) business. This role partners cross-functionally to translate scientific evidence into impactful product development, customer engagement, and market growth across APAC.
Serve as a key scientific interface between NS and R&D, commercial teams, academic partners, and customers, with a focus on functional ingredients, formulation, and regionally relevant health solutions.
Ideal location will be in Malaysia or Singapore.
Essential Functions
Develop scientific expertise in functional ingredients, human nutrition, and emerging health benefits
Translate research into high-impact outputs (white papers, publications, presentations, technical dossiers)
Support innovation through new product concepts, applications, and health indications
Provide formulation and application support for ingredient commercialization
Manage research collaborations with universities, CROs, and regional partners
Build relationships with academic and scientific stakeholders across APAC
Support regulatory activities (e.g., dossiers, regional compliance awareness)
Partner with Marketing & Sales to develop science-based tools, training, and customer presentations
Contribute to IP development and business development initiatives
Support Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) activities and strategic programs
Requirements
Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Nutrition Science, Biology, Physiology, or related field
Must have previous APAC regional involvement with a multi-national company
5+ years in nutritional or functional ingredients, with strong scientific and applied experience
Experience working with academic collaborators; APAC network preferred
Strong knowledge of nutrition science and ingredient functionality
Excellent communication and presentation skills for scientific and commercial audiences
Proven ability to translate complex science into business-relevant insights
Fluent in English and Mandarin (required)
Experience supporting APAC markets preferred
Ability to work remotely and be self-motivated
Exceptional team player
High degree of problem-solving abilities
Willingness to travel regionally
Some familiarity with formulation and ability to translate ingredients into finished products
