We don't believe hunger is inevitable. We believe it is a leadership challenge. The ideas already exist. The science exists. The innovations exist. What the world needs are people who can bring unlikely partners together, build movements that shift political will, and turn ambitious ideas into action. That's where you come in. The SDG2 Advocacy Hub is looking for an exceptional Deputy CEO & Impact Lead to help lead one of the world's most connected food systems organisations through its next chapter. You'll work alongside CEO Paul Newnham, whose work has helped build some of the world’s most influential food systems movements, turning bold ideas into coalitions, campaigns and global action. Together, you'll challenge conventional thinking, build unlikely partnerships and help shape the conversations that influence food systems around the world. The Hub doesn't simply deliver programmes. It strengthens the systems that allow others to succeed. They design enabling environments where governments, businesses, philanthropies, researchers, farmers, chefs, and citizens can creatively collaborate to accelerate change. As Africa assumes an increasingly influential role in shaping the future of global food systems, we are particularly interested in hearing from exceptional leaders based on the African continent who bring deep regional networks, political insight and a passion for building movements that deliver lasting change. This isn't a typical Deputy CEO & Impact Lead role You're not inheriting a large bureaucracy. You're joining a small, ambitious team that punches well above its weight. One day you'll be helping shape an African agricultural innovation initiative with governments, researchers and philanthropies. Next, you'll be working with chefs, youth leaders and creatives to inspire people to think differently about food. Each day, you will be leading a team of technical experts, managing people, mentoring their growth and impact. You'll help build coalitions. Shape narratives. Support governments. Influence donors. Connect unlikely champions. Develop new ideas. And occasionally jump on a plane because the opportunity to change the conversation has just emerged. If you're looking for routine… this probably isn't your role. SDG2 Advocacy Hub Charity Number 1215367 Who we're hoping to find We're looking for someone who combines systems thinking with systems leadership. Someone who understands that lasting change happens when you strengthen the relationships, incentives and institutions that allow others to succeed. You might already be leading a movement. Or running an influential programme. Or helping governments navigate complex change. Perhaps you're the trusted number two who quietly turns vision into reality. Perhaps you're ready for your first Deputy CEO role. Either way… You're someone who naturally connects people. You see systems where others see projects. You're equally comfortable talking with ministers, farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers and young activists. You ask good questions. You listen before speaking. You build trust quickly. You remain calm when complexity increases. You don't chase the spotlight. You care about helping others succeed. Most importantly… You believe Africa has the ideas and leadership to shape the future of global food systems. Success in this role isn't measured by activity. It's measured by influence, collaboration and impact. You'll ensure our influence translates into measurable change. The work ahead Over the coming year and beyond, you'll help shape two of the Hub's most ambitious initiatives yet: bringing together governments, philanthropy, researchers, innovators, businesses and champions to transform how agricultural innovation and nutrition are understood, communicated and supported across Africa. This work will help position Africa at the centre of global food systems conversations leading towards COP32 and beyond. What success looks like You'll work as the CEO's closest strategic partner, turning vision into delivery. Your responsibilities will include: ● Leading organisational performance and ensuring every team is focused on the highest-impact priorities. ● Supporting effective organisational governance, including a constructive relationship with the Board of Trustees. ● Creating clarity, accountability and alignment across a globally distributed team. ● Translating strategy into practical delivery plans and measurable outcomes. SDG2 Advocacy Hub Charity Number 1215367 ● Helping shape the Hub's advocacy agenda and policy positioning on food systems, agriculture and climate. ● Building trusted relationships with governments, donors, UN agencies, businesses and influential champions. ● Ensuring partnerships result in real action, not just meetings and announcements. ● Deputising for the CEO when required and helping lead organisational governance. Two years from now we hope you'll have helped us: ● Position Africa as a leading voice ahead of COP32. ● Build influential coalitions around agricultural innovation and nutrition. ● Strengthen our partnerships with governments, philanthropy and the private sector. ● Help grow the Hub into one of the world's most influential food systems advocacy organisations. Why join us? You'll probably love this role if... You enjoy creating order from ambiguity. You love building relationships that last. You become energised by big ideas. You're comfortable working across cultures. You naturally mentor others. You know that leadership is about enabling rather than controlling. You celebrate other people's success. You still get excited by possibilities. You can wear multiple hats, often all at the same time. About the SDG2 Advocacy Hub The SDG2 Advocacy Hub exists to accelerate action towards Sustainable Development Goal 2: end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. We challenge each other, celebrate each other's successes, think creatively, and believe that ambitious work is best achieved with humility, kindness and a sense of humour. This role isn't about being the face of the movement. It's about helping build one that lasts. If you're a systems thinker, a relationship builder and someone who believes Africa can help shape the future of global food systems, we'd love to hear from you.
