The EHS Specialist coordinates activities and verifies proper execution of required EHS programs at the site. This role supports implementation of EHS programs, supports execution of required actions, conducts audits and evaluations to confirm regulatory and corporate compliance, and engages with all personnel to cultivate a strong EHS culture.
Support site policies, programs, and permits to safely execute high-risk activities Execute tasks for industrial hygiene exposure assessment and implement programs to control chemical, biological and physical hazards. Educate employees on exposure risks and how to properly mitigate those risks.
Participate and/or lead hazard identification risk assessments for facility processes, equipment, laboratories and/or creative centers and systems to prescribe required safeguards and controls including but not limited to combustible dust, acute toxics, corrosives, flammables, asphyxiants, reactive chemistry, and hazardous kinetic energy.Ensure site policies and procedures meet applicable process safety regulatory requirements if applicable; Industry specific knowledge such as but not limited to Biosafety
Support the site emergency response and action plan and verify readiness through drills, critiques, and exercises.Work with local fire department or jurisdictional authority to ensure the site meets required fire prevention standards.Coordinate and support site emergency teams (fire brigades, medical first responders, spill response, hazardous materials, and other specialized teams).
Lead internal and corporate audits that touch site EHS compliance with IFF EHS policy, regulatory, and ethical requirements. Support additional audits, inspections, and certifications that involve EHS management systems when applicable.
Facilitate area and task-specific risk assessment process to evaluate severity and likelihood of injury during tasks. Work with area leaders and impacted employees to prescribe appropriate controls.
Surveillance of employee health following local regulatory requirements and IFF policies.Support employees that have been injured on the job and promote proactive support and injury case management.
Participate on incident and injury investigations with operational teams to successfully mitigate hazards and prevent future recurrence, utilizing prescribed investigation methods.
Establish program for new employee orientation and on-going refresher training compliant with EHS requirements for all plant personnel.
