We are now looking for an experienced Laboratory Information Specialist to join our Analytics team in Helsinki, Finland.
In this position, you will play an essential role in supporting Onego’s R&D initiatives by setting up structured data capture systems and delivering meaningful insights through data analysis utilizing our Benchling platform. Your work will contribute towards Onego’s greater goal of providing animal-free egg protein ingredients to the world. We aim to play a significant role in building the sustainable food system with the help of our partners throughout the world. Towards this goal our team utilizes microbial production systems for expressing egg white proteins using filamentous fungi that requires new and routine data capture and analytics.
Position Overview:
The Laboratory Information Specialist will support the R&D team as a tenant admin to Onego’s Benchling platform. The role requires basic understanding of laboratory workflows and excellent understanding of data management and analysis. In this role, you will ensure that the data model effectively supports the R&D work by managing workflows and utilizing the data for meaningful insights. Additionally, the role includes providing technical user support and training team members.
Your key responsibilities as a Laboratory Information Specialist include:
Optimize and improve the configuration of Onego’s data management platform, Benchling, to ensure a seamless and meaningful data model.
Analyze and interpret complex data to support research and operational decision-making.
Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate data insights.
Lead meetings with relevant stakeholders to gather requirements and user stories to guide data model development efforts.
Develop and implement data solutions to meet the needs and expectations of users and stakeholders, guided by user stories.
Design, implement, and maintain automated data pipelines to streamline data collection and processing.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integrity, quality, and accessibility.
Provide training and support to team members on data management best practices and tools.
Qualifications needed to succeed in this position:
Proven experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), especially Benchling.
Strong proficiency in SQL. Other data analysis techniques and tools (e.g., Python, R, Excel, etc.) are considered a great asset.
Solid understanding of laboratory information management and organization, including sample tracking.
Excellent collaboration skills across teams and functions.
Basic understanding of laboratory workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Working level language skills in English.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Suitable education, e.g. a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biology, Molecular biosciences or a related field.
