POSITION SUMMARY: The QA Coordinator provides necessary support to Quality Team Members and customers in administering and completing essential duties and responsibilities for the department, while supporting all day-to-day activities of QA team members, QA processes and procedures. An important component of this position is the effective use of communication skills to keep customers, employees and vendors advised and updated with key quality information. This is a highly visible position with opportunities for growth.
Directly reports to the Quality Assurance Manager for proper direction, interpretation, and evaluation. Maintains and guarantees Balchem Corporation’s quality and safety standards.
Position is for 2nd shift: M-F 3PM-11:30PM
Pay Rate starts at $21/hr
Essential Functions
Manages finished goods COA's and specs
Assists with product specification sheets, sampling plans, and lab data sheets
Manages testing and evaluation of all finished goods
Documents and manages retain finished products samples and sample requests
Manages finished goods COA's and specs
Verifies compliance with SOPs, SSOP's and HACCP plan
Performs mock recalls
Reviews finished product folders for positive release program, as needed
Manages ATP, Allergen, Organoleptic/Sensory, QA Training, and/or New Hire Orientation programs
Communicates with Operations and Quality Supervisor or Manager to resolve any quality issues
Identifies opportunities for improvement and coordinated QA Team efforts to address them
Arrives on time to work, meetings, and training sessions
Observes safety and security procedures, determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, and reports potentially unsafe conditions
Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
Reports to Manager any failure to adhere to Balchem’s work ethics and standards
Requirements
Lab experience is required, and food-handling experience is desirable
HACCP knowledge and understanding required/PCQI preferred
Must have sound analytical and technical skills
Individual must be equipped with strong motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (both orally and written)
Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
Demonstration of strong work ethics (dependable, and trustworthy)
Must be able to communicate and handle conflict in a professional manner
Ability to give and welcome feedback and contribute to building a positive team spirit
Working Conditions
Individual will continually be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, to talk and hear, and to utilize specific vision abilities including but not limited to close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Regularly required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, using proper ergonomic principles, taste, smell, and lift up to 25 pounds
Periodically required to lift up to 60 pounds, utilizing safe and proper lift techniques and equipment
Individual will operate equipment, including but not limited to computers, lab equipment, instruments involving scientific meters and measuring devices, and a sit down and/or stand-up forklift
The ability to distinguish colors is required

Individual may rarely be exposed to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, work in extreme heat (non-weather), work in high noise levels and vibration
