Reporting to the Senior Manager in the Process Engineering Group and working at the Technical Center in Hershey PA, the Process Engineer position will, with direction, participate in the conceptual and detailed engineering design, execution, and implementation of low complexity projects requiring functional and industry expertise while developing relationships to help deliver business results. This position requires a critical thinker who is learning how to develop their capability to demonstrate and apply technical knowledge, and who is learning problem solving and optimization skills. This position will work collaboratively with both technical and business partners, learning how to communicate technical subject matter in verbal and written form cross functionally and with their manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity and be learning leadership attributes.

Assist in the development of construction scope and bid packages for capital projects.
Assist with coordinating and overseeing equipment and system installation, check- out, and commissioning.
Assist with process support, troubleshooting, and optimization during startup.
Assist with training manufacturing personnel including operators, supervisors, QA, and maintenance on the process's key operating parameters.
Successful transition of deliverables and documentation to Plant Operations and Maintenance staff.

Conceptual and detailed engineering design and cost estimation for capital projects:
With guidance from a lead Process Engineer:
Assist with developing manufacturing alternatives that meet the business requirements and provide processing solutions for the project.
PFD & P&ID generation and development.
Provide input to equipment specification & selection and evaluation of equipment suppliers.
Provide input to cost estimating for capital projects and process solutions.

Skill Development:

Knowledge and experience in process design typical for the food and pharma industry, including:
General knowledge of common process unit operations and equipment used in the confectionary, food, and pharmaceutical industries; general knowledge of sanitary design, construction practices, GMP’s and Food Safety.
Possess a basic understanding of the design and application of process piping systems, food manufacturing equipment and process automation & instrumentation
Ability to prioritize solutions and develop schedules based on an understanding of the required business objectives.
Developing troubleshooting and optimization skills

Education & Experience:
BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Food, Agricultural, or other closely related Engineering field.
0-2 years of experience in Food Processing, Confectionery, Pharmaceutical or related industries.
Previous Co-Op / Intern experience desired, preferably in Food Processing, Confectionary, or Pharmaceutical industries.
