The Flavor Analyst, Research Investigator role is part of our Tastepoint team, which supports flavor creation and development for a wide range of customer applications.
The position is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (onsite).

Where You Will Make a Difference
• Lead, plan, and execute complex flavor research projects under the guidance of technical management.
• Perform the isolation and concentration of flavor compounds from food and beverage products using solvent extractions, distillations, and headspace collections.
• Acquire, analyze, and interpret chromatographic data using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
• Communicate results, findings, and scientific conclusions to internal teams and external partners.
• Provide Competitor Product Analysis support to Tastepoint flavor creation teams, including sample preparation and reporting.
• Manage and maintain the Tastepoint analytical laboratory, ensuring proper equipment care and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Union Beach and across Product Research, Creative, and Applications teams to advance technical programs.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of new research and development capabilities, including automation and emerging analytical technologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance laboratory workflows, scientific consistency, and research quality.
What Makes You the Right Fit
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related scientific field; an advanced degree may substitute for years of experience.
• At least five years of experience in a food or flavor research environment.
• Hands‑on experience with gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and advanced sample preparation techniques.
• Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry and food science with the ability to interpret complex experimental data.
• Experience in laboratory equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Ability to independently lead scientific tasks and manage multiple project priorities.
• Strong computer skills and comfort working with scientific and digital tools.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate analytical results into clear recommendations.
• A strong interest in flavors, fragrances, and the sensory characteristics of consumer products.
How You Would Stand Out
• Experience working with advanced analytical instruments such as gas chromatography with olfactory detection, liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry, or nuclear magnetic resonance.
• Experience developing automated laboratory methods or digital experiments using artificial intelligence tools.
