As a Research Scientist in the Process Research group of the Fragrance Division, you will have a unique opportunity to explore and develop efficient and sustainable production processes for fragrance ingredients using your skills and creativity in organic chemistry.
You will collaborate with several research and development teams within Givaudan and with external partners. You will plan, lead and execute research programs to identify and study potential routes and technologies to produce new and existing fragrance ingredients.
You will be based in our Innovation Center in Kemptthal (Zurich) and will report directly to the Head of Process Research.
You will:
Apply cutting-edge technologies to identify, optimize, and scale up synthetic methods and processes having applicability on large-scale in mind
Focus on sustainability and applying green chemistry principles
Use advanced digital tools and predictive modelling to accelerate route scouting, improve reaction parameters, and drive data-based decision-making
Lead a team of research associates
Collaborate and manage projects with external partners
Provide expert chemistry advice and communicate acquired knowledge to technical staff and business leadership

Your professional profile includes:
A PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, with a background in green chemistry methodologies (e.g. catalysis, flow chemistry)
As an advantage experience on the job with an industrial background in route scouting and process optimization
Digital savviness with experience in applying data science methodologies (e.g., DoE, BO) and AI-assisted tools to address and solve complex chemical problems
Experience in project and collaboration management
Expert in solving chemical challenges and the discovery of novel products or processes
Used to collaborate with colleagues on multiple levels inside and outside the organization
Business fluent in English (oral and written) and the ability to record experimental details/conclusions in English
