What You'll Be Doing
In this Procurement Specialist role, you will support operational purchasing for our EU and UK sites. You will work closely with both local departments and our global procurement team to ensure goods and services are sourced effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with company standards. Your understanding of Dutch business practices and confidence navigating the local supplier landscape will help us make well‑grounded purchasing decisions. Because you will collaborate with colleagues from various cultural backgrounds, a collaborative mindset and strong communication skills are essential. This role offers a mix of hands‑on purchasing, supplier coordination, and process improvement, ideal for someone with early procurement experience who is ready to take on broader responsibility. In practice, your responsibilities will include:
1. Cross-Site Procurement Management
Execute end-to-end procurement requests from both EU and UK sites.
Coordinate with production, back office, and logistics teams to ensure requirements are clearly captured.
Ensure suppliers deliver goods and services on time and meet quality standards.
2. Supplier & Contract Management
Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, and service levels.
Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
3. Support for Logistics Operations
Procure equipment, packaging materials, consumables, and other logistics-related items or service.
Collaborate with logistics team to align procurement with shipping schedules and inventory needs.
4. Support for Production and Back Office Functions
Procure production materials, lab consumables, and equipment as required.
Manage procurement requests for administrative, HR, and EHS related items.
Track budget usage and provide reporting on procurement activities.
5. Process & Compliance:
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and EU & UK local laws.
Maintain accurate records in SAP or procurement systems.
Contribute to process optimization and standardization across EU and UK.
What We Expect From You
2–3 years of procurement experience, preferably within the life sciences, biotech, pharmaceutical, or high‑tech industries.
Experience managing procurement in EU and/or UK, with familiarity in regional purchasing practices.
Familiarity with SAP procurement.
Knowledge of Dutch business practices and local supplier landscape, especially for office, facility, or operational categories.
A network of local suppliers or stakeholders in the Netherlands or UK, particularly in office services, facilities, or operational categories, is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiation and contract management, with the ability to secure competitive and reliable agreements.
Strong communication and intercultural collaboration skills, with the ability to work smoothly across diverse teams.
Strong analytical capabilities, including experience with cost modelling and data‑driven decision‑making.
Proficiency in English and Dutch (B2+ required); Chinese is a plus but not mandatory.
Ability to review basic technical or facility drawings when assessing proposals.
Legal eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
