POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Supervisor works independently and coordinates essential Quality Assurance / Quality Control functions from raw materials and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) verification through finished product release (includes quality control), document review.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Constant monitoring and/or auditing of manufacturing processes, records, and products while ensuring compliance with Food Safety Plans and adherence to cGMP standards. Interpret and enforce Urban Remedy Food Safety and Quality Assurance standards to ensure product excellence.
Coordinate, perform, and record QA scheduled calibration testing, monitoring programs, and validation procedures.
Follow up on customer complaints, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and define and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Support the FSQA Manager on internal audit programs, audit preparation year-round.
Conduct in-house QA analyses, including analytical and sensory tests (taste/smell/visual) as needed for components, products, customer complaint resolution, etc.
Provide training for personnel on the production floor and warehouse on Food Safety and Quality Assurance topics, CCPs, GMPs, and other matters as needed.
Obtain and prepare samples and corresponding paperwork as required for third-party labs.
Evaluate the validity of test data received/obtained. Review data for conformance to specifications.
Review and release daily production batch records.
Maintain the QA master document control and keep all written procedures, forms, and logs (both physical and electronic) updated to current company practices. Incorporate or develop new procedures as needed.
Sample and maintain QA retention samples, review retain samples, log results. Define, execute, and record CAPA in collaboration with the QA Lead and FSQA Manager.
Perform incoming component (raw materials, packaging), Work-in-progress (WIP), and or finished goods (FG) inspection, sampling, review, and disposition by following the company’s established procedures. Verifies product compliance and alerts the FSQA Manager of any significant deviations from specifications.
Review Certificate of Analysis (CoA) as applicable. Alert the FSQA Manager of any irregularities and keep the CoA database updated.
Maintain equipment, records (logs, documentation, calibration, etc.), and the QA office in compliance with codified regulatory guidelines and company procedures (cGMPs, SOPs).
Maintain adequate inventory levels of QA supplies and/or supplies needed for QA activities at contract manufacturing locations (log, request purchase, etc.).
Report all non-conformances and deviations observed from employees, building structures, and expected procedures to the FSQA Manager, and suggest corrective and preventive actions for the resolution of irregularities.
As a leadership member of the Food Safety team will execute duties as required, and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the FSQA Manager.
Aware of cGMPs requirements and responsible for assuring that direct reports are aware and will execute as trained.
QUALIFICATIONS
Position-Specific Skills Required
Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in a quality, laboratory or cGMP regulated production environment in 21 CFR regulated industries (e.g., food, dietary supplements, personal care, medical devices).
Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to details.
Technical Skills Required
Familiarity / knowledge of cGMPs, Food Safety guidelines, HACCP/HARPC, laboratory safety, GFSI/SQF. National Organic Program and Kosher guidelines a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications including:
Microsoft Office Suite (or comparable) – Word, Excel and Power Point.
Relational databases and other tools to compile and interpret quantitative data.
Review and follow-up of email correspondence.
Advanced proficiency in English; bilingual Spanish is preferred.
Experience working with version-controlled forms, procedures, policies and workflows.
Education/Training Required
The ideal candidate has a college degree or equivalent in science or related studies.
High School Diploma.
HACCP certified.
cGMP or similar training.
Experience working in a Lean Enterprise/ Continuous Improvement environment is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to lift 25 pounds and physically perform requirements of job.
Sitting 50%, walking 40%, standing 10%.
Mobility in plant / warehouse environment.
Long periods of standing, twisting and bending.
Will spend time in a production and warehouse environment and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and loud noises.
