Under general supervision, the Almond Receiving Operator 1 participates in activities that support the receiving of almonds from growers’ orchards, the moving and storage of products at the plant, and the shipping of almonds to the Sacramento plant for processing in addition to supporting warehousing and safeguarding BDG assets. Following established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), policies and procedures, and safety procedures while performing job duties will be essential to this position.Under general supervision, the Almond Receiving Operator 1 participates in activities that support the receiving of almonds from growers’ orchards, the moving and storage of products at the plant, and the shipping of almonds to the Sacramento plant for processing in addition to supporting warehousing and safeguarding BDG assets. RESPONSIBILITIES: Executes multiple functions to support bulk almond receiving, transfer and drying operations. Monitors bulk piles and holding bin levels. Participates in receiving, storing, manifesting and processing of box deliveries. Operates forklift and yard trucks. Inspects incoming deliveries for variety, quality and food safety standards; performs moisture testing and product sampling in accordance with federal requirements. Maintains accurate inventory registers utilizing digital and hard copy systems of recordkeeping. Engages in cleaning and sanitizing of food contact and environmental surfaces of bulk warehouses and processing equipment. WHAT YOU NEED *Minimum qualifications High School Diploma or GED 1 year of almond receiving, inventory control, distribution center, quality control, maintenance, or production/operations experience. Nut processing experience preferred. Overtime as required. Long hours are necessary during the receiving season. Excellent communication skills to work with others within the department to coordinate incoming deliveries and not mix varieties/quality of almonds. Physical demands: Heavy lifting of 50+ lbs, pushing, pulling and stooping. Ascend and descend multiple-level equipment and work from elevated platforms and confined spaces. WORK ENVIRONMENT This is a standard manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, hazardous materials, and heavy machinery. Work is mostly outdoors and subject to all weather conditions.
