In May 2023, BRM acquired USA Gypsum, a Pennsylvania-based company specializing in the recycling of drywall waste. Through its proprietary process, USA Gypsum converts drywall waste into valuable resources for agriculture and industry, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and supporting a more sustainable future.
Position Summary:
The Business Development Representative will be responsible for driving growth by identifying and securing new waste stream sources and developing relationships with key partners across agricultural, industrial, and municipal sectors. This role focuses on sourcing high-volume, non-hazardous by-products and connecting them with beneficial reuse applications, particularly in agriculture. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of waste, environmental services, or agricultural industries and thrives in a relationship-driven, field-based sales environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales
Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities with waste generators
Build and maintain relationships with agricultural partners for land application, and end users for bulk material applications
Develop and execute strategies to expand the company’s bulk materials footprint across target markets
Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through onboarding of new partners
Collaborate with internal teams to align supply (waste streams) with demand (agricultural and industrial end markets)
Waste Stream Sourcing & Market Development
Identify new and emerging waste streams for beneficial reuse
Evaluate volume, quality, logistics, and economic viability of potential materials
Stay informed on market trends, regulatory considerations, and sustainability initiatives impacting waste reuse
Develop a pipeline of both short-term and long-term sourcing opportunities
Relationship Management & Cross Functional Collaboration
Serve as a primary contact of external partners, ensuring strong, long-term relationships
Conduct site visits, field meetings, and presentations to prospective and existing partners
Manage existing accounts and maintain strong relationships with trusted partners
Provide market feedback to leadership to inform pricing, product development, and expansion strategies
Support contract structuring and pricing discussions in collaboration with leadership
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, agriculture, engineering, or related field
3-6+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management
Experience in waste management, environmental services, agriculture, or industrial materials strongly preferred
Strong understanding of waste streams, recycling, or beneficial reuse markets
Ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
Proven ability to prospect and develop new business opportunities
Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Comfortable managing multiple opportunities and a developing sales pipeline
Working Environmental & Requirements:
In-office presence required
Regular travel to various customer sites, farms, manufacturing and processing facilities across the Midwest and beyond
Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and safety regulations
What We Offer - Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. $100,000 - $120,000
