🔬 Pilot Plant & Manufacturing Technician

Ivy Farm Technologies is a pioneering cultivated meat company creating sustainable, ethical alternatives to traditional meat. We’re building the future of food and we’re looking for a Technician to help support our R&D team.
Based at our head office in Oxford the Pilot Plant & Manufacturing Technician plays a critical role in the day-to-day operation of our bioprocessing facility, supporting cell culture production from seed train through to scale-up. You'll work closely with our Manufacturing, Operations, and Cell Sciences teams to ensure our bioreactor systems, media preparations, and equipment run smoothly and to the highest standards of quality and sterility.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and set up bioreactors, including cleaning, assembly, and sterilisation ahead of production runs; these could be small scale glass vessels or our larger stainless steel vessels
Prepare cell culture media and supplements accurately, following defined protocols and formulations
Prepare single-use systems for cell expansion
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of manufacturing assets and equipment
Maintain accurate batch records and documentation in line with GMP/GLP standards
Support seed train management and aseptic technique across the production process
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support scale-up activities and continuous improvement initiatives
Adhere to health & safety protocols and contribute to a strong safety culture on-site
What We're Looking For
Experience in a bioprocessing, biomanufacturing, pharmaceutical, or related life sciences manufacturing environment
Familiarity with bioreactor systems (Reusable and/or single-use systems) and aseptic technique
Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
Understanding of cell culture media preparation and handling
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment
A collaborative mindset and willingness to get stuck in as part of a small, growing team
Relevant degree or vocational qualification in biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Practical details:
Fully on-site role (5 days per week)
Occasional weekend work may be required depending on experiments
