Job Summary:

We are looking for a creative social and environmental activist to join our team as Community Engagement Manager. The purpose of the Community Engagement Manager is to strengthen the relationships between FoodCloud and the communities we serve by continuously building awareness and collaboration between FoodCloud and community voluntary groups and networks. This role plays a key part in delivering FoodCloud’s 2030 Community Engagement Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Grow engagement
Design and progress engagement models and materials that support community partner recruitment and surplus food redistribution.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community networks that can engage new partners directly, and act as the primary liaison for community leaders and networks.
Work with other teams to innovate, streamline and lead activities that improve engagement with the community.
Programme Research, Design and Delivery
Build off existing research and actions outlined within the community engagement plan, progress activities that increase surplus food redistribution capacity and address current barriers for community organisations.

Design and deliver Community Education and Capacity Building Programme including capacity building education and training for community partners. Embed capacity building education and training into the day to day work of FoodClouds community facing teams.
Income and fundraising
Work with the fundraising team to secure continuation of funding for the following projects:
-Community Education and Capacity Building -The Hub and Host Partnership Network -University Campus Network
Advocacy
Represent FoodCloud in key advocacy and network events. As required, work with other teams (marketing, CDT, Advocacy) to design and coordinate FoodCloud events and deliver key messages to target groups for greater engagement.
Work with Education and Engagement Lead, and other FoodCloud teams, to collect and share stories and data that demonstrate the "broader social value" of food redistribution.
Work with the advocacy team to position FoodCloud and food redistribution as a legitimate entry point for broader social inclusion and public health policy.
Working with the Advocacy project manager, support school and university engagement initiatives.
Team Management
Lead and manage the Engagement and Education Lead to ensure maximum satisfaction , growth and performance.
-Key responsibilities include setting clear objectives, providing regular coaching and feedback, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment, and ensuring activities align with organisational goals.
Maintain cross functional team collaboration, across community facing team members, to ensure the delivery of the community engagement plan for 2026-30.
Key Deliverables
Retain and grow the number of charities who receive food from FoodCloud.
Progress projects that partner in ways that can further reduce food waste and promote social inclusion - these include;

Secure funding for a community capacity building programme for FoodCloud and work with the Education and Engagement Lead to deliver 16-20 Capacity Building education opportunities annually.
Recognise and elevate the voice and role of community partners across FoodCloud and across public discourse. This includes attending events, delivering thought leadership articles, community corner stories, newsletters, social impact surveys and reports and leading the Storyhunters cross functional project.
Work closely with the Head of Policy & Advocacy, and Advocacy Project Manager, to ensure community perspectives are central to our advocacy projects. Lead all community sector facing research and activities within advocacy projects.
Skills & Experience:
Experience working in the community or voluntary sector required
Minimum 5 years in community/public engagement, user centred service design, or development education
A full, clean driving licence and willing to travel
Facilitation, stakeholder engagement and participatory processes
Partnership development and network building
Strategic planning and systems thinking
Social impact measurement, evaluation and learning
Communications (visual storytelling and copywriting)
Computer literate in dealing with Microsoft & Google Suites and CRM systems (Salesforce)
Research, analysis and report writing
Service design and user-centred service development
Flexible, creative with the ability to adapt to a changing and challenging environment
Able to work in a self-directed manner
A commitment to the values of foodcloud / Interest in environmental/ food/climate change issues
FoodCloud is a small organisation with big ambitions! You will be required to get involved in supporting many aspects in the development of the organisation, which may include ad hoc projects and events
