Summary
The Food Scientist will support the Product Development and Commercialization Lead in moving projects from concept to commercialization. This role will work cross functionally to drive projects forward while maintaining an environment where quality and food safety is paramount.
Roles and Responsibilities
Make bench samples with new and existing formulations within customer parameters and capabilities of the plants.
Maintain the test kitchen in good standing with regard to raw materials, supplies, and cleanliness.
Oversee the shipping of bench, finished goods, and raw material samples internally and to customers as required.
Utilize Nutrition Fact Panel Software (Genesis, ENTR) to create NFPs and Ingredient Statements
Deliver recipes, internal specifications, documentation, nutrition panel labeling, and ingredient declarations to meet regulatory guidelines and quality food safety requirements.
Respond to and work with multiple production facilities as needs may arise.
Work fluidly with cross-functional partners (Operations, Sales, Marketing, etc) to launch projects, updating CRM as projects move from concept through commercialization.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
B.S. in Food science or chemistry or food engineering.
1-3 years experience in the food/ingredient manufacturing industry required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic skills related to food processing and project management are a must.
Knowledge of raw materials and ingredient functionality are essential.
Proficient in office software (Excel, Word, Office) and Genesis software.
Excellent, effective communication skills
Work Environment
Food scientists work in clean, controlled lab environments conducting product development, quality testing, and research. This setting typically requires the use of lab equipment and adherence to safety protocols (e.g., lab coats, gloves, and goggles). They also spend time in production facilities to monitor processes, run trials, or ensure quality standards. These areas may be noisy, involve extreme temperatures (hot or cold), and require PPE such as hairnets and safety gear.
