IFF is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Production team as Maintenance Manager. This role is based in Penang, Malaysia and will report to the Plant Manager.
Your Focus
As the Maintenance Manager, oversees all aspects of an organization’s maintenance operation ensuring the reliable and cost-effective functioning equipment, facilities and infrastructure. You will supervise and direct activities of the mechanical, electrical, reliability and utilities team and interface closely with Engineers, Maintenance Scheduler/Planner, Mechanics, Technicians, Chargeman, Boilerman and with appropriate Operations and other site departments to ensure that all facets of plant reliability meet safety, quality, and production standards and are achieved through the appropriate administration of Company and site policies, procedures, and business objectives.
How You Will Contribute.
Operating Costs
- Manage Costs - actively seeking opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve service levels.
- Actively participate in budget preparations for the Maintenance Department, which include and not limited to Energy Usage, saving initiatives, head counts, optimum utilization of resources and efficient use of capital.
- Review the energy usage on daily / weekly / monthly basis. Actively lead and participate in energy management and plant improvement projects which will reduce operating costs.
- Managing the head count cost such as overtime and ensuring it is within budget.
- Actively manage preventive and predictive maintenance to improve plant reliability and operations cost.
- Manage and maintain optimum spare parts in inventory and periodic review of minimum spare parts level.
- Develop internal skilled personnel to reduce dependency to external contractors.
Projects
- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of forward capital and site development plans to ensure infrastructure is maintained and developed in harmony with business plans.
- Work in conjunction with Engineering and Project Manager to develop and implement operator training and maintenance plans for all new equipment.
- Ensure standard operating procedures are available for all new equipment.
- Assist in post completion reviews of capital projects to find opportunities for continuous improvement in the investment project management process.
- Timely completion and within budget of all assigned projects.
Safety and Health
- To actively lead and promote Safety, by ensuring personnel are trained, safe practices are in place and are followed, Implement and maintain the IFF Safety Management Systems. To ensure the hazards are identified and controlled, safe behaviour practices are maintained, Incidents are reported and investigated and early intervention in injury management.
- All General Safety and Process Safety audit findings are closed on time without any overdue.
- Build a strong safety culture within the department.
- Leads and participates in health and safety inspection, assessment and audits and tracks corrective actions to closure.
Environmental Management
- To actively lead and promote care for the Environment, by understanding the Environmental impact on our business, thus ensuring environmentally safe process and practices are followed,
- Ensure site waste disposal is managed within IFF guidelines and identify any opportunity in maximizing recycling of any form of waste. To ensure IFF’s impact on the environment is minimized in support of the company’s Sustainable Development goals.
- Leads and participates in environmental inspection, assessment and audits and tracks corrective actions to closure.
Food Safety and HACCP
- Responsible for the protection of IFF customers anywhere and 3rd parties, from harm or injury caused by food borne hazards associated with the business’s products and processes. This is achieved by maintaining and adhering to a legally recognized Food Safety System/Global Food Safety System that identifies, assesses and controls known food safety hazards.
- Lead and participates in GMP and 5S at departmental and site level. Drive and motivate team members in building a strong food safety culture.
Administrative and Others
- A member of complaints management team GCMS (Global Complaints Management System).
- Address CAR (Corrective Action Reports) requests, determine and implement appropriate corrective actions to ensure operating standards are maintained.
- Timely monthly reporting on Maintenance and Boiler Performance to allow good communication flows and to enable DMYS Operations reporting timelines to be met.
- Establish strong KPI’s to monitor performance based on business requirements.
- Adhere to all company policies, rules and regulations and committed to company’s quality and continuous improvement programs such as ISO9001, GMP, HACCP, ISO14001, 5S and BRC.

What You Will Need To Be Successful.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 7 years of proven track record from plant maintenance from relevant industry.
- Proficient in operating at least one computerized business operating system and in PC Software such as Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written English.
- Demonstrated proficiency in accuracy and attention to detail.
- Highly developed and effective time management capability.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze potential manufacturing problems and initiate appropriate solutions.
