Independently develops flavors in response to profitability, compliance and strategic priorities. Demonstrates creative leadership in working with global R&D to maximize IFF technology and innovative practices. Effective partner for the GRA, FAD, Quality, Global Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain groups. Participates in development programs for more junior flavorists.Responsibilities/Description:
Recognized and established technical expert within the company globally
Continues to expand own knowledge, including flavor chemistry .
Proactively works with new molecules, specific areas of improvement.
Starts demonstrating clear Expertise on a tonality or technology (topic to be further elaborated).
Demonstrates ability to handle significant increase in commercial workload.
Applies rigor and method to resolve difficult raw materials and manufacturing problems.
Proactively works with Operations teams to improve efficiency and reduce quality variations in manufacturing processes.
Understands regional taste differences and preferences. Can create or modify accordingly
Interacts with key customers regionally or globally to understand requirements and build solid relationships
Establishes significant regional/global network to share work and enter new partnerships
Creates flavors in partnership with Portfolio Managers and/or Applications to fill gaps in the Flavor bank (Commercial only)
Liaises directly with R&D on relevant project work
Liaises with Ambassadors and/or IPD’s on relevant project work
Requirements:
Minimum entry level is a science degree (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, etc.), preferably a Master’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Food Engineering and/or Chemistry Engineering.
Promoted from IFF Flavorist Level II or entered from equivalent level with competitor.
Has spent 11–15 years in flavor creation.
Recognized and established technical expert within the company globally.
