About the Role
Do you dream of combining your culinary technical knowledge with commercial awareness? Are you ready to cultivate your creative ideas in a fast-moving, innovative environment? As a Product Developer at Tempty Foods, you will work closely with the R&D team and the broader organization to develop products that meet sensory, nutritional, quality and scalability requirements.
As a Product Developer at Tempty Foods, your primary role will be to turn ideas into kitchen prototypes and scalable food products. You will work with a high level of independence while being supported by the Head of R&D, and you will play a hands-on role in shaping products from early concepts through to pilot and production scale.
This role combines culinary creativity with technical understanding and commercial awareness. You will work closely with the R&D and broader team to develop products that meet sensory, nutritional, quality, and scalability requirements in a fast-moving, innovative environment.
What You’ll Do:
Prototype Development: Translate product briefs into kitchen prototypes aligned with sensory, nutritional, and commercial goals
Formulation Optimization: Optimize formulations and processing steps to achieve target texture, flavor, and nutrition
Technical Application: Apply practical understanding of ingredient functionality, basic processing, and production constraints during development
Sensory Testing: Plan and conduct basic sensory and consumer tests and use feedback to refine products
Scale-Up Support: Support the transition from kitchen prototypes to pilot or production scale
Product Documentation: Assist in the preparation of nutritional declarations and product specifications
Food Safety: Follow food safety and hygiene practices throughout product development, testing, and scaling
Structured Work: Work in a structured and detail-oriented way, documenting recipes, processes, and learnings clearly
What Success Looks Like:
Product ideas are efficiently translated into well-documented kitchen prototypes
Formulations meet defined sensory, nutritional, cost, and scalability targets
Creativity is well balanced with a commercial mindset, ensuring products are both exciting and scalable
What We’re Looking For
1.5+ years of experience with a proven track record in food product development, R&D or a closely related role
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Science or a related field
Strong culinary skills with hands-on experience and commercial mindset (professional or test kitchen experience is a plus)
Understanding of the technical aspects of food production
Structured, detail-oriented and comfortable documenting recipes, trials and learnings
Interest in plant-based foods and curiosity about ingredients, processes and emerging trends
