Melt&Marble develops sustainable, high-performance designer fats for food and personal care applications through precision fermentation. They have built a proprietary microbial lipid platform, validated their first products, established pilot-scale production, and filed multiple patent families. With early commercial traction and active global customer discussions underway, the business is now transitioning from science-led development to commercial scale-up.

We are seeking an Independent Board Director to work closely with the CEO and executive team to support a critical phase of commercial acceleration.
We’re looking for an experienced industry veteran who can bring deep market context, strategic clarity, and high-quality industry connectivity to priority markets.
About the Independent Board Director opportunity
Melt&Marble is seeking an Independent Board Director with the potential to transition to Board Chair once the relationship has been established. This Board Director will help guide and accelerate the company’s move from early product launch to meaningful commercial scale.
The mission of the role is to strengthen commercial execution at the board level and support the company’s scale-up journey. The Board Director / Chair will play a key role in refining strategy, shaping partnerships, and ensuring strong governance as the company grows.
What you’ll be advising on:
- Refine and challenge commercial strategy (segmentation, positioning, pricing, prioritization)
- Guide commercial growth from initial volumes to industrial-scale production
- Advise on CMO partnerships versus long-term asset strategy
- Support the structuring of strategic production and offtake agreements
- Open doors to relevant brands, distributors, and major ingredient players
- Provide guidance on scaling from first commercial sales to multi-thousand-tonne volumes
- Strengthen governance and overall board effectiveness
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO on investor dynamics and scaling decisions
Ideal profile:
- 15+ years of senior leadership experience in B2B ingredients (food, personal care, fats & oils, or specialty chemicals)
- Proven track record in launching and scaling new ingredient products globally
- Experience navigating large B2B procurement processes and long sales cycles
- Demonstrated experience scaling products from pilot phase to thousands of tonnes
- Exposure to industrial manufacturing models and strategic production partnerships
- Deep expertise in fats & oils or specialty lipids (strongly preferred)
- Active industry network across brands, distributors, and/or production partners (EU/NA preferred)
- Prior board experience required; Chair experience preferred but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of governance and investor-founder dynamics
- Europe-based (strong preference due to engagement model)
- Collaborative and structured communicator
- Data-driven, commercially pragmatic mindset
- Strong chemistry with CEO and mission alignment
