WHY OATLY?
Across the world people’s consumption habits and diets are evolving to be more plant-based. Enter Oatly, the #1 oat based dairy alternative producer in the world with products spanning multiple categories.
We’re determined on being part of the discussion on the long-term future of the food and beverage industry. To keep this movement going, we need more brilliant minds to come work with us to keep the momentum going and the Oatly flowing.
Our sole purpose as a company is to make it easy for people to turn what they eat and drink into personal moments of healthy joy without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process.
Sustainability, nutritional health and trust are at the heart of what we do. We are building a culture that constantly upgrades each other so we can upgrade the planet. This is a company that shows great respect and a fearless approach to make positive change. Does this feel exciting? Well, this is where you come in.
THE ROLE
As HR Generalist you help us make sure Oatly is an incredible place to work. Broad, right? What even makes an incredible place to work? Well, lots of things! This role is a great fit if you love getting exposure to every corner of the employee lifecycle and enjoy being close to the business. You take on a broad, hands‑on role supporting several of our markets – France, Spain, Mexico, the Netherlands and Belgium and help us keep growing in a structured, human and compliant way.
What We Need You To Do
Recruitment: support end‑to‑end recruitment together with our Hiring Managers - from writing clear and attractive job ads and screening CVs, to setting up interviews, sourcing great people and making sure candidates have a one-of-a-kind experience when interviewing for Oatly
Onboarding: run a great (and compliant) onboarding experience for new starters, making sure all admin is spot‑on in Workday, coordinating trainings, helping people get access to IT and delivering welcoming onboarding sessions
Operations: support the daily HR backbone – contracts, employee files, sick leave cases, certificates, payroll inputs and salary payruns, plus general HR queries
Office: provide ad hoc office support in our Barcelona office, help ensure health and safety measures are in place, and contribute to a safe, smooth and welcoming workplace
Collaboration: work closely with the People Director IM, People Business Partner Benelux, Talent Acquisition and local employees across markets, with occasional travel to NL, BE and FR
What We Need You To Bring To The Table
You’ve got a Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organisational Psychology, or something closely related or an equally solid story of how you got here.
You bring at least 3 years of hands‑on experience in a generalist HR role (or similar), ideally gained in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, or Spain.
You’ve been involved across the full employee lifecycle: from recruiting and onboarding to compensation & benefits and the HR admin that keeps everything running smoothly.
You’re comfortable working with HR systems like Workday (or similar HRIS) ATS, ERP tools and generally tech‑savvy. Extra points if AI and automation spark your curiosity rather than fear.
You genuinely care about the details. And yes, every job spec says that. But for real, it’s a particularly important trait for someone in this role.
You have a real passion for people, showing up as empathy, good judgment, intuition, and a strong “how can I help?” mindset.
You’re a true HR generalist with business understanding and a roll‑up‑your‑sleeves, let’s‑just‑do‑it startup attitude.
You’re curious, quick to learn, and comfortable finding your way when things aren’t fully defined (yet).
You’re fluent in English, written and spoken. Spanish, French and/or Dutch are very welcome bonuses.
You’re based in Barcelona, or close enough to commute without turning it into an endurance sport.
Finally, we hope that you share our values and have a great interest in carrying out our mission — so we can make the world a little bit better, one cup at a time.
