About Iskashitaa Refugee Network

Iskashitaa Refugee Network (IRN) is a 23-year-old, Tucson-based nonprofit fostering refugee integration, promoting food literacy, and reducing local food loss through community-based harvesting, education, and cultural exchange.

Our team works with refugees, asylum seekers, volunteers, and community partners to glean and redistribute over 100,000 pounds of produce annually, strengthen local food security, and build meaningful cross-cultural connections.

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to support the coordination and daily operations of Iskashitaa’s community programs. This role is ideal for a mission-driven, organized, and adaptable professional interested in nonprofit program management, food systems work, and refugee integration.

The Program Coordinator will assist with the planning, logistics, communication, and implementation of multiple active programs, including harvesting, food redistribution, the Refugee Garden Art Program (RGAP), food preservation workshops, and community events.

This is a hands-on role that combines coordination, communication, volunteer support, scheduling, field work, and program administration.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Operations

Coordinate logistics and scheduling across multiple programs and activities.
Support weekly harvesting operations, food redistribution efforts, RGAP activities, workshops, and special events.
Assist with maintaining calendars, supply organization, transportation coordination, and program communication.
Help ensure programs run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Volunteer & Community Support

Work collaboratively with volunteers, refugee participants, interns, and staff across programs.
Assist with volunteer coordination and communication during program activities.
Help create welcoming, inclusive environments for refugee participants and community members.
Represent Iskashitaa at outreach events, community gatherings, and partner meetings.

Data Tracking & Administration

Track program participation, harvest data, redistribution records, and other operational metrics.
Assist with documentation, reporting, and maintaining organized program records.
Support communication through email, Google Workspace, social media, and scheduling systems.

Program Growth & Development

Identify opportunities to improve workflows, systems, and program coordination.
Assist leadership with developing scalable processes as programs continue to grow.
Support collaborative partnerships with community organizations, schools, faith communities, and local partners.

Qualifications

Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort working both independently and collaboratively.
Interest in nonprofit operations, food systems, sustainability, community engagement, or refugee integration.
Cultural competence and willingness to work with diverse refugee and immigrant communities.
Comfort with Google Workspace and basic data tracking.
Valid driver’s license.
Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent work/lived experience preferred.
Experience in community programs, operations, volunteer coordination, logistics, or event coordination is a plus.

Compensation & Schedule

$18.00/hour, full-time (40 hours/week).
Occasional evenings/weekends for events/harvests.
Paid holidays; flexible scheduling.
