About the Role
At Van Holten’s Pickles, we’re all about bold flavor, quality products, and a touch of fun. As our Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist, you’ll be on the front line of keeping our pickles safe, our quality high, and our customers happy. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who thrives on detail, loves solving problems, and enjoys working closely with production and leadership to support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Compliance
Perform daily/weekly/monthly food safety and quality audits
Document and communicate results clearly and professionally
Support corrective actions and follow-up on non-conformances
Maintain food safety records and regulatory documentation
Assist with preparation for and support third-party audits
Product Quality & Improvement
Respond to customer complaints with clear documentation and follow-up
Collaborate cross-functionally on new product formulations and changes to existing processes
Support product reformulations, shelf-life studies, and sample testing
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, manage inventory and supplies
Assist in line audits to support continuous improvement
Training & Team Communication
Train production staff on testing procedures, quality expectations, and GMPs
Communicate sanitation or food safety concerns between shifts and departments
Provide seasonal support during cucumber intake, tankyard testing, and employee onboarding
Serve as a backup to the FSQA Manager and assist with special projects

Required Qualifications
2+ years of food safety or quality assurance experience in food manufacturing
Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
HACCP and/or PCQI certified
Familiarity with SQF, BRC, or other food safety certification programs
Experience enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Interest in professional development and further certifications

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM (with occasional OT)
Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
Comfortable in a food manufacturing setting (temperature changes, sanitation chemicals, equipment use)
Pay & Benefits
$25.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
