The Opportunity
Culture Biosciences is looking for a Production Manager. The Production Manager will play a pivotal role in building and managing the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing team, ensuring on time, efficient and high quality product creation. As the Production Manager, you will lead the hardware and single use manufacturing teams, working closely with cross-functional departments to drive productivity, system implementation, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing MES systems, scaling up processes and streamlining/error proofing processes.
What You'll Do
- Manufacturing Leadership:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficient and timely production while meeting safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Execute and be accountable for administrative manufacturing tasks ( e.g work order generation, sales orders processing, inventory issuance) .
- Able to execute selective floor operations to cover critical processes during peak operations.
- Develop and execute manufacturing strategies to optimize resource utilization, reduce costs,enhance efficiency and improve quality.
- Implement new systems to enable scale up.
- Ensure process interfaces/handoffs with other teams are robust.
- Ensure safety guidelines and regulations are followed.
- Project manage all non-routine assignments and triage against company priorities.
- Team Management:
- Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, promoting lean principles, and implementing best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Provide coaching and guidance to team members to ensure they meet performance objectives and adhere to safety protocols.
- Hold regular 1:1’s ensuring staff engagement, development and feedback
- Quality and Reliability
- Manage the production process to meet quality standards ( ISO 9001)
- Define team goals and priorities, aligning with the business goals.
- Monitor production KPIs and operational metrics, analyze trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage production related Quality systems
- Resource Allocation:
- Manage resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet production schedules and project timelines.
- Develop and execute production plans and schedules in alignment with company goals and customer demand.
- Manage training plans and staff development to ensure resources can be allocated to meet business demand.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Adaptable and flexible mindset to drive solutions and change.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, quality, supply chain) to support new product introductions and resolve production issues..
- Engage in cross-functional communication to address operational challenges, facilitate process improvements and new business opportunities.
Requirements And Qualifications
- Experience building and managing teams.
- Exceptional critical thinking and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Experience, education or training in production planning within a manufacturing setting.
- Experience in production control systems and tools, such as ERP & MES software.
- Ability to trouble-shoot and improve/drive resolution of production issues
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence, motivate and inspire co-workers and their team.
- Knowledge of production quality standards (GMP, ISO 9001) is a plus
- Experience within device / instrument production is a plus
- Understands LEAN principles and other efficiency tools
- Experience in process optimization.
- Experience in, or understanding of fermentation and cell culture processes is a plus.
- The ideal candidate will have experience implementing MES systems, scaling up processes and streamlining/error proofing processes.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, biochemical/chemical engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing/operations or production management, with at least 3 years in a management role.
Location & Schedule:
This is a full time weekday on-site position. We’re looking for someone based in the San Francisco Bay Area who is able to work in person at our facility in South San Francisco 5 days per week.
Base Salary Range
Culture Biosciences's compensation package includes market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, and great benefits. Our expected salary range for this role is
$90,000 to $130,000. Final offer may vary within the range provided based on experience, expertise, and other factors.
