Engagement: Part-time advisory (2–5 hours/month, flexible)
Food Impact are partnered with a biotech company based in the US, looking for a Part-Time Strategic Advisor. Their mission: to harness biotechnology to unlock the power of nature’s molecular building blocks. From the outset, they have combined deep scientific expertise with a strong commercial focus to deliver healthier, more functional, and sustainable ingredients across food, nutrition, and personal care.
Operating with a capital-light, IP licensing model, they partner with established industry leaders to integrate innovations into existing infrastructure, accelerating real-world adoption. Guided by integrity and long-term societal impact, they empower partners with differentiated offerings that support a more resilient and sustainable future.
The Role
They are seeking a Part-Time Strategic Advisor to support a critical phase of commercial acceleration. This is a newly created advisory role designed to bring deep market context, strategic clarity, and high-quality industry connectivity to priority markets, particularly nutrition and chocolate/confectionery.
The advisor will act as a trusted thought partner to the executive team, helping validate commercialization strategy, navigate complex value chains, and open doors to senior decision-makers at relevant partners and brands. While investor introductions may occur, the primary focus of this role is commercial insight and traction.
The engagement is intentionally lightweight, flexible, and impact-driven, ideal for a seasoned industry leader motivated by advising, mentoring, and helping innovative platforms succeed.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide detailed understanding of target markets, including key players, intermediaries, regulatory considerations, and commercial dynamics.
- Advise on complex value chains such as nutrition, chocolate/confectionery, personal care, food, over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals, or adjacent regulated markets.
- Offer strategic guidance on product–market fit, commercialization pathways, and go-to-market decisions.
- Make targeted introductions to potential customers, partners, investors, or other ecosystem players.
- Serve as an ad hoc resource for strategic problem-solving and “firefighting” questions as they arise.
Strong candidates will bring
- 20+ years of relevant industry experience in nutrition, cosmetics and personal care, OTC pharmaceuticals, chocolate/confectionery, or adjacent regulated markets.
- Deep expertise in at least one priority sector, with working familiarity across others.
- Credibility and seniority to open doors with executives at large, innovative brands.
- Experience in roles such as R&D leadership, product innovation, brand management, supply chain, or business/unit leadership with P&L responsibility.
- A strong commercial orientation and a well-maintained network of senior industry contacts.
- Comfort working with early-stage companies and empathy for startup constraints.
- Experience working with or across multiple brands and organizations.
