Role Summary
Are you a mission-driven leader passionate about transforming the global food system? As Director of AVF, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-impact strategies that reduce the consumption of animal-based products and accelerate the shift toward plant-based foods.
You will lead the strategic and operational development of AVF, overseeing programmatic work, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, team management, and fundraising. You will also collaborate closely with AVF's sister organisation ProVeg to ensure alignment with their global mission: replacing 50% of animal products globally by 2040.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong track record in nonprofit leadership or mission-aligned sectors who wants to help build a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable food system.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Impact
- Develop and execute a strategy aligned with AVF’s mission and vision.
- Design and scale impactful programmes adapted to France’s opportunities and needs.
- Track progress and impact.
External Relations & Fundraising
- Act as a public spokesperson and thought leader on food systems transformation.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with policymakers, corporates, funders, media, and NGOs.
- Secure funding from local and international donors, foundations, and governments, with help from ProVeg’s international development team.
- Represent AVF at events, in the media, and with key stakeholders
- Collaborate with ProVeg’s global leadership team and contribute to international strategy.
Team & Organisational Development
- Lead and inspire a diverse team of staff and consultants in line with AVF’s culture of collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.
- Foster a supportive environment that values feedback, continuous learning, and staff wellbeing.
- Manage HR, legal, and operational compliance with national regulations and AVF policies.
Governance & Finance
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and compliance in partnership with the finance team.
- Ensure the organisation operates within budget and adheres to donor and legal requirements.
- Support the work of the AVF board.
- Report regularly on organisational performance and progress to the AVF board.

The recruitment process includes:
- Culture & Leadership Interview (French): An initial conversation focused on values and culture fit.

- On-Site Presentation & Experience (French & English): An in-person interview at AVF Paris office to present your plan.
- Final Board Interview (Optional): A final validation meeting with Board Members.
