The Operations Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist.
The EHS Specialist supports the implementation and ongoing maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe working environment. This role partners with site leadership and cross-functional teams to support safety initiatives, training, and continuous improvement efforts across the facility. This role will be responsible to ensure all facilities and reports are in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Tasks, Duties, & General Responsibilities
Support the implementation and maintenance of employee health and safety programs in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Assist in developing compliance procedures, plans, permits, and required regulatory reports.
Support continuous improvement of site safety programs based on operational needs.
Deliver Health & Safety (HSI) training for plant team members.
Assist with the development and delivery of safety training content for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Track and report training completion and compliance.
Communicate EHS expectations and policies to employees and third-party contractors.
Maintain company-mandated and regulatory records for accuracy and completeness.
Participate in internal EHS and compliance audits and support corrective action tracking and closure.
Assist with monitoring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company EHS requirements.
Participate in incident investigations and support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to identify workplace hazards and recommend risk-reduction measures.
Support site PPE programs and ensure appropriate use and availability.
Manages our Workers’ Compensation program and partners with the Insurance company to help manage cases.
Coordinate with external vendors supporting EHS initiatives (e.g., CPR training, ergonomic assessments, first aid services).
Support emergency preparedness, disaster response, and pandemic response planning and compliance activities.
Coordinate emergency drills and response activities as needed.
Partner with plant management and cross-functional teams to support EHS initiatives.
Provide technical EHS support across areas such as:
Machine Guarding
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Hazardous Materials
Equipment Safety
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Follow all facility policies related to safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Perform other duties as assigned and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of EHS experience in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience delivering safety training and supporting SOP development.
Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
Experience with hazardous waste management and behavior-based safety programs preferred.
Other Qualifications
Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, not a requirement
Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to efficiently organize information, analyze large datasets, and present data in a clear and impactful manner
High-level ability to build strong relationships and influence technical, business, and operational decisions
Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT
In-office five (5) days per week and able to work flexible shifts as required based on position needs. Occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will also be required based on company needs.
Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas specifically requiring a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.

Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.
Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks.
Travel to the different facilities associated with the company will be required.
**Annual salary commensurate with experience**
The starting annual base pay for this role starts at USD $82,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
