We're looking for an experienced, self-driven Grant Writing Specialist to own our grant function end-to-end — from identifying opportunities to managing post-award reporting. This role sits at the intersection of science, strategy, and communication.
What You'll Do
Research and monitor grant opportunities across US, EU, and Asian funding agencies; maintain a prioritised pipeline aligned to UMAMI's scientific and commercial roadmap
Lead end-to-end proposal development — translating our cultivated seafood technology into compelling narratives that highlight scientific innovation, commercial USPs, and real-world impact
Develop a working understanding of our technology platform to identify credible gaps and extensions that can anchor grant applications
Manage grant lifecycle post-award: liaise with funding agencies, track milestones, maintain records, and fulfil all reporting requirements on time
Research and build relationships with potential academic and industry collaborators for future proposals
What We're Looking For
Proven track record writing and managing grants through the full lifecycle, from identification to post-award reporting
Ability to understand and accurately represent complex technical content; comfortable working with scientists and engineers
Commercial awareness — able to frame innovation in terms of market opportunity and business value, not just scientific merit
Exceptional written communication: clear, precise, and persuasive across different funders and formats
Strong project management skills — capable of juggling multiple proposals across agencies and timelines with minimal oversight
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (biology, chemistry, engineering, or related); Master's preferred
2+ years of grant writing experience, ideally in deep tech, biotech, or food innovation
Hands-on experience with US and/or EU grant agencies strongly preferred
