The role
Our global food waste prevention programme is setting the pace internationally, moving into a bold delivery phase focused on scaling proven solutions, shaping business practice, and driving real, measurable reductions in food waste across markets worldwide.
As our Senior Specialist – Food Waste, you will play a key role in delivering the International Food Waste Coalition (IFWC) programme — a strong and growing initiative bringing together leaders from the hospitality and food service (HaFS) sector to drive measurable food waste reduction. The programme has recently strengthened its value proposition through enhanced data analysis and the development of practical operational guidance for businesses.
You will combine strategic leadership, business development and on-the-ground expertise to grow the programme’s impact across Europe.
Key responsibilities include:
Drive the recruitment, engagement and retention of IFWC signatories, with a strong focus on delivering value to businesses
Lead the implementation of the IFWC food waste reduction programme and other funded initiatives across multiple countries
Secure additional funding through grants, subsidies and public funding mechanisms to scale impact
Deliver and oversee on-site food waste audits, and support the rollout of operational best practices
Engage with EU institutions, national governments and key regional stakeholders to influence and expand the programme
What are we looking for?
Strong knowledge of food waste and sustainability challenges in the hospitality and/or contract catering sector, with at least 5 years of relevant experience
Proven experience leading international projects or programmes across multiple countries
Hands-on experience delivering food waste audits and training teams on operational processes, with the ability to work across both strategic and operational levels
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and engaging senior stakeholders as well as operational teams
Ability to translate data and project insights into clear, compelling messages that demonstrate value to partners and drive engagement
Please note that English-language fluency, both verbal and written, is an essential requirement for the role. French and/or Dutch are advantageous.
