The Role & Your Impact
As Senior Scientist, you will operate at the interface of discovery and application, combining fungal systematics, morphology, and physiology with experimental innovation. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening the fungal collection as a scalable innovation engine, accelerating how biodiversity is translated into product pipelines.
Your key responsibilities include:
Driving strategic expansion of fungal biodiversity aligned with future biosolution needs
Selecting and screening fungal diversity for targeted product development projects
Integrating taxonomy, physiology, and multi-omics data to enhance biological understanding and application fit
Developing and deploying automated, high-throughput workflows and scalable assay platforms
Generating and structuring high-dimensional datasets to support AI-driven discovery and predictive modeling
Collaborating cross-functionally across R&D and Applied Research to drive end-to-end innovation
Engaging with customers and stakeholders to translate complex fungal science into application-relevant value
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
Ph.D. in Mycology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field
Strong background in filamentous fungal taxonomy, physiology, and ecology
Expertise in classical and molecular-based fungal identification methods
Hands-on experience with fungal isolation, cultivation, and characterization
Proven ability to handle large datasets and extract insights from multi-omics analyses
Strong capability to translate fundamental fungal biology into application-relevant outcomes
Collaborative mindset with a proactive and innovation-driven approach
Excellent communication skills in English, including the ability to explain complex science clearly to diverse audiences
Additional Skills & Interests We Value
Curiosity for exploring understudied fungal diversity and translating it into real-world impact
Experience managing cross-functional innovation projects
Track record of developing or applying automated, high-throughput phenotyping workflows
Familiarity with CBD/Nagoya-compliant bioprospecting

Ways of Working / Working Conditions
The primary workplace for this role is in Hørsholm, Denmark, where you will be part of a highly cross-functional and international R&D environment. The position involves close collaboration across teams and disciplines, combining laboratory-based work with data-driven analysis.
