AAK is the world's leading specialist producer of plant-based oils, co-developing value-adding ingredient solutions with customers across chocolate & confectionery, bakery, dairy, plant-based foods, special nutrition, foodservice, and personal care.
This position is responsible for technically advising and leading EH&S practices and programs to protect employees, customers, and the environment, championing comprehensive oversight for safe, compliant operations across manufacturing facilities, offices, laboratories, and pilot projects, meeting government safety regulations and industry standards. Critical to this role is being the site leader as it relates to wastewater and shipping port operations.
Responsibilities:
- All hands-on Environmental, Health and Safety activities
- - Review and implementation of corporate EH&S programs, policies, procedures, training, and reporting
- - Guiding management of hazards associated with process safety management, ensuring a comprehensive program is maintained
- - Developing and implementing environmental strategies, auditing and analyzing environmental practices for sustainability (workplace pollution control, waste management, recycling)
- - Directing accident investigations, reviewing and reporting, and developing programs for improved safety performance
- - Providing employee safety training and communication programs, managing the site safety committee, contingency planning, and emergency response
- - Setting environmental and safety priorities and goals consistent with corporate objectives
- - Specifying EH&S guidelines and directives for internal governance and controls
- - Acting on quantitative measurements and coordinating solutions, presentations, and detailed reporting on safety performance
Requirements:
- 8+ years as a hands-on EHS leader in a plant manufacturing or similar environment
- - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
- - Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred
- - Knowledge of food processing, packaging, GMP, mechanical engineering, and vegetable oil/hydrogen plant operations helpful
- - Strong analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills
- - Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements
- - Experience with environmental regulations specific to the San Francisco Bay Area and the US Coast Guard highly desirable
