We are La Fauxmagerie, the UK’s first plant-based cheesemonger, specialising in stocking and making the best artisanal vegan cheeses the world has to offer. Since opening our doors in February 2019, our business has gone from strength to strength with the support of our loyal customers and dynamic team, and we are continuing to expand our reach throughout the UK and further afield.
In our five short years since opening a tiny pop-up store in Brixton we’ve reached some huge milestones as a small business:
- Moved to a much larger, permanent store in Shoreditch (July 2019)
- Opened our online shop (July 2019)
- Began crafting our own range of artisanal plant-based cheese (2019)
- Significantly expanded our online shop and our manufacturing capabilities
- Opened The Cheese Cellar, which is the first venue in the UK dedicated to vegan wine and cheese dining (September 2020)
- Started supplying Waitrose with our own range of artisanal fauxmage (May 2022)
- Joined forces with Purezza Holdings (November 2023)

About the role
We are looking for a full-time Production Manager to manage our vegan cheese ageing facility in Leyton. This is a busy role requiring organisation of our manufacturing schedule, staff, and materials including ingredients, labels and equipment.
Knowledge and experience of HACCP and food safety in a manufacturing environment is essential, as you will be managing our SALSA compliance and documentation. A key element of the role will be taking responsibility for the health & safety, food hygiene, quality and process controls at the facility, whilst fostering a positive and diligent food safety culture within the team.
This role will involve managing junior staff and working closely with the team to both maintain and expand our range of artisanal cheeses, ensuring each product is sent to our clients with the quality expected from our brand. Effective communication, planning and prioritisation will be key to drive efficiency and quality assurance in our manufacturing processes.
About you:
- You will be a self-motivated and proactive person, who enjoys establishing structure and organisation in your environment
- You will be organised and militant about our manufacturing and health & safety processes, to include stock management, completing documentation, product traceability, performing audits and quality assurance
- You will be able to work quickly and methodically, with a keen eye for detail
- You will be a quick learner who is analytically minded, with a positive attitude and flexibility to adapt within a quickly growing business
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and completing manufacturing runs
- Ensuring daily production and packaging requirements are met without compromising on food safety, hygiene, quality and legality
- Maximising on productivity and efficiency
- Manage and supervise day-to-day tasks for our Manufacturing Assistants, Cleaner and Kitchen Porter
- Ensure kitchen operations are monitored, audited and operate within compliance with our SALSA and COSSH procedures
- Ensure that all production complies with product specification by monitoring the production process and performing basic testing and quality checks
- Ensure stock rotation and checks are undertaken to minimise left-overs/spoilage and ensure ingredient traceability
- Understanding of our HACCP system the food safety risks and the controls in place to minimise these risks
- Reporting all maintenance requirements and hazards in the workplace to directors
- Liaise with Directors and staff to maintain high standards of housekeeping
- Liaising with our retail staff to gather insights from customer feedback to improve product performance, and communicate any important findings to directors
Essential skills and attributes:
- Managerial experience within a manufacturing environment
- Level 3 Food Hygiene training
- Ample experience of working with SALSA or BRC health and safety guidelines
- Superb communication and organisational skills
- Physically fit to carry out duties involving lifting, carrying, twisting, bending,
stretching, reaching etc.
- In line with the Asylum & Immigration act all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
