The EHS Specialist,based at the Totowa, NJ plant, reports directly to the EHS Manager.The department is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs to improve employee safety. Responsibilities include identifying potential risks and enforcing protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate commitment to safety, both personal and of your colleagues.
- Coordinate and maintain all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs across two facilities.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and company procedures and initiatives, including maintaining ISO 45001 certification.
- Identify and address EHS hazards proactively.
- Foster a positive safety culture through visible engagement in injury, illness and environmental prevention initiatives.
- Monitor and report program effectiveness; collaborate with leadership to recommend improvements.
- Partner across departments and with internal experts to implement safety enhancements.
- Maintain updated records, training documentation, metrics, training materials and SDS sheets.
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in safety or related degree preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in the EHS field within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and root cause analysis.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety programs, including LOTOTO, machine guarding, hazardous waste management, respiratory protection, and confined space entry.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and NJ state safety and environmental regulations.
- Experience with ISO 45001 and/or 14001 systems; internal auditing experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer and internet use, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and organizational tasks.
- Flexibility to work second or third shift, including occasional weekends as needed.
Required Licenses/Certifications: CSP and/or ASP certification preferred
Working Environment: Plants are large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. You will be exposed to a dusty work environment due to raw materials. Materials may contain allergens (eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, fish, shellfish, wheat).
Physical Requirements:
- Sits, Stands, Walks, Kneels, and Bends frequently.
- Frequently uses hand/finger dexterity for typing.
- Reaches above and below the shoulders.
- Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are usually involved in performing written and verbal job functions.
- Frequently lift 25-pounds.
Travel Requirements: Travel as needed for company business. Domestic and International travel may be required.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, location and business or organizational needs. The base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $93,000. In addition, we offer:
