The Sales Executive is the executor of the PURIS Sales Process, responsible for hunting, closing, and expanding profitable ingredient business by converting new customers and growing existing accounts in volume, ASP, and gross margin.
This role serves as the heartbeat of PURIS prospects and customers—working with PURIS Sales Development Reps and Marketing finding new leads and owning discovery, translating customer needs into value creating solutions, leveraging internal PURIS experts, and convincing customers to buy PURIS products, ideas, and services at prices that deliver strong and driving year-over-year gross margin growth in assigned accounts through disciplined execution of the PURIS Sales and Account Success Processes.
Pay Rate/Range: $90,000 - $115,000

Travel: Significant (30-40%)
The compensation for this role will be based on qualifications, experience, market data, and internal equity. Actual pay may vary due to factors such as location, skills, education, and performance. Pay is determined transparently, using market benchmarks and ensuring internal equity.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- The Sales Executive owns the end-to-end execution of the PURIS Sales Process, moving qualified leads through discovery, recommendations, cross selling, integration, and deal close while effectively navigating the organization and enabling collaboration across the PURIS sales team.
- This role is accountable for identifying, qualifying, and converting new ingredient customers.
- The Sales Executive conducts onsite visits and works directly with prospects, operations, procurement, and technical stakeholders to evaluate ingredient opportunities and close new business.
- The Sales Executive is responsible for closing new business volume, revenue, and gross margin across the full portfolio of PURIS ingredient products, including starches, proteins, fibers, flours, screenings, culls, and extruded products, and for consistently meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
- Acting as the commercial quarterback, the Sales Executive drives discovery across all PURIS offerings by leveraging internal Solutions Consultants and partners across Technical, Environmental, Marketing, and Product teams to develop value based, margin accretive solutions. In partnership with the Product team, this role develops pricing strategies and scalable commercial structures and utilizes executive, legal, and technical resources to accelerate deal closure.
- For assigned and landed accounts, the Sales Executive is accountable for “Land and Expand” execution, delivering year-over-year growth in volume, ASP, revenue, and gross margin through disciplined execution of the PURIS Account Success Process.
- This role maintains accurate CRM data and forecasting, reports deal status and pipeline health to Sales Leadership, and serves as a primary source of market intelligence by continuously providing insight on native starch dynamics, competitive landscape shifts, pricing trends, and substitution drivers. These insights are shared cross functionally with Product, Marketing, Operations, and R&D to inform strategy, innovation, and execution.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, finance, or human resource development
- 5+ years food and beverage experience, preferably within corporate business development
- Proven success in complex, consultative B2B sales with multi-stakeholder buying groups and longer sales cycles; preferably in ingredients or related industries
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Power BI
- Strong new business development and account expansion experience
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Experience with data integration and ERP systems
- Experience with ESG and other Sustainability work
- Ability to travel regularly (~30% of time)
