We are looking for a mid-level Product Developer – Food Innovation & Ingredients (f/m/d) to strengthen our R&D team and drive the next generation of BettaF!sh products and B2B ingredients.

🌊 Your Role
You take ownership of product and ingredient development from concept to commercialization. As an experienced innovation driver, you combine formulation expertise with process understanding and industrial feasibility.
A key part of your role is the execution of approved research and innovation projects in international consortia, translating scientific results into scalable, market-ready solutions.
You operate at the interface of research, production, and B2B application, ensuring outstanding taste, texture, nutrition, functionality, and manufacturability.
Your Responsibilities
🥄 Product & Ingredient Development
Develop and optimize food products and functional ingredients from concept to market launch
Continuously improve formulations (taste, texture, nutritional profile, cost, scalability)
Evaluate and implement new processing technologies and production methods
Develop and validate application recipes (e.g., ready meals, snacks, sauces), including sensory evaluation and proof of functionality
Identify and onboard suitable production partners and accompany the scale-up of new plant-based products for retail and food service
⚗️ B2B Technical Responsibility
Act as technical contact for B2B customers
Lead or support co-development projects tailored to market and application needs
Prepare technical documentation, feasibility assessments, and product samples
Support Sales and Business Development with technical expertise and data
🧪 Research & Innovation Projects
One of your main focus areas will be the execution of publicly funded research initiatives:
Independently manage publicly funded R&D and innovation projects in sustainable ingredients and food processing
Execute work packages end-to-end (experimental design, trials, analysis, documentation)
Present results internally and to external stakeholders
Bridge scientific research and commercial product development
🔬Your Profile
Master’s degree or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a food startup, scale-up, or innovation-driven environment
Proven experience in product and/or ingredient development and process development
Experience with seaweed or marine raw materials is beneficial
Experience working with external production partners and scaling processes
Strong interest in functional ingredients and sustainable food systems
Structured, independent working style with a high sense of ownership
Fluent German and English, both written and spoken
