On the retail side, we are available through H-E-B, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme, Giant and others. We're one of the fastest growing plant-based protein brands in the US.
Chunk makes clean-label, plant-based whole-cuts that cook, look, and taste like beef. Made from 8 simple ingredients, naturally fermented, and delivers 37g of protein per 6oz serving with zero cholesterol and no GMOs. We’re building the next category leader in plant-based protein, and we’re scaling fast across US food service and retail.
The role
We’re hiring a Business Development Manager to own new business development with large food service operators. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Strategic Accounts. You’ll be responsible for building and closing a pipeline of operator accounts - think contract food service, corporate dining, universities, healthcare systems, hospitality groups, and chains - working closely with distributor and broker partners to drive menu adoption at scale.
You’ll work across the US, and have meaningful influence over Chunk’s expansion in the market. You’ll lead customer meetings, culinary presentations, and industry shows, so you’ll need to be equally comfortable running a discovery call, presenting to a VP of Culinary, and closing pricing negotiations with a distributor.
What you'll do
Prospect and close new business with large US food service operators across contract food service, B&I, colleges and universities, healthcare, hospitality, chains and other accounts, according to Chunk’s GTM strategy.
Build and manage the pipeline: Build, manage, and close a high-quality pipeline end-to-end, from opening strategic doors and qualifying opportunities, through culinary presentations, operator testing, menu placement, distributor execution, and pricing negotiation. Success in this role means consistently creating qualified opportunities, advancing accounts with urgency, and converting pipeline into measurable menu placements and repeatable volume.
Own distributor and broker relationships: drive sell-through, negotiate pricing and program structures, and make sure Chunk is positioned to win at the operator level.
Represent Chunk Foods in the field - trade shows, summits, customer visits, and culinary events. Expect frequent travel and field work.
Maintain your CRM with clean, current pipeline data, accurate forecasts, and clear next steps on every account.
What you bring to the table:
4+ years of food service sales experience with a track record of closing and growing operator accounts.
Operator network - Existing relationships with decision-makers with food service operators across the US.
Hunter mentality - you’re energized by opening doors, not just managing existing books of business.
Distributor fluency - you understand food service distribution, GPOs, and the world of food service operations.
Strong commercial instincts - comfortable building a business case, negotiating pricing, and forecasting with rigor.
Excellent communication and presence - credible in front of executive buyers, culinary leaders, and operations teams.
CRM management and the operating habits of a high-performing seller (Salesforce, HubSpot, Monday.com or similar).
Willingness to travel nationwide frequently.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience selling food or beverage products (especially center-of-plate proteins, or premium/specialty ingredients).
Existing relationships with contract food service operators, regional restaurant groups and chains.
Prior experience bringing an emerging or challenger brand into food service.
Culinary experience - comfortable talking menu, food cost, and application with chefs.
This is a fully remote, US-based role. Candidates should be based near a major US hub with near airport access - examples include Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Houston/Austin, Boston, Baltimore, Atlanta, or comparable metros. Frequent domestic travel is expected for operator meetings, distributor work, culinary presentations, and industry events.
Why Chunk?
Category-defining product: clean-label, 8-ingredient, whole-cut plant-based beef that operators and chefs actually want to put on the menu.
High ownership: you’ll shape how we win in US food service, not inherit someone else’s playbook.
Chunk Foods is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
