The role
Our global food waste prevention programme is setting the pace internationally, moving into a bold delivery phase - focused on scaling proven solutions, shaping business practice, and driving real, measurable reductions in food waste across markets worldwide.
Around a third of all food produced globally is lost or wasted – a profound driver of greenhouse gas emissions, water stress and resource loss. The solutions exist. The momentum is building. What is needed now is leadership: to translate that momentum into measurable, lasting change across value chains and geographies.
As Head of Food Waste Prevention, you will lead one of the most ambitious food waste prevention programmes in the world. You will be a global strategic leader – accountable for impact, for influence, and for evolving the programme into its next phase of delivery and funding resilience.
You will lead an integrated global team of four Programme Leads and approximately 14 specialists, spanning the UK, Americas, APAC, Europe and beyond. Your team and colleagues hold deep expertise and strong in-market relationships. You will bring coherence and momentum to their work, connect the dots across the organisation, markets and topics, and work collaboratively to build the partnerships and funding that will sustain and grow WRAP’s impact.
Working through our network of Food Waste Pacts and global partnerships, this is your opportunity to shape how the world acts on food waste prevention – at scale, with credibility, and with lasting effect.
What are we looking for?
You Will Bring
Senior leadership in the food system: A track record of senior leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder programmes – navigating the intersection of business, government, civil society and international delivery. You are comfortable operating with high personal autonomy and shaping strategy as much as delivering it.
High credibility in food waste prevention or the wider food system: You understand the systemic levers for reducing food loss and waste across the value chain, and you know how to translate that understanding into programmes that shift practice at scale. You bring credibility with businesses, governments and funders alike.
Exceptional external engagement and influence: You have built and sustained senior relationships across different types of organisations, funders and geographies. You can convene, persuade and partner. You are confident representing an organisation externally and shaping the policy and business environment in which it operates.
Global programme leadership and delivery: You have led geographically distributed programmes or portfolios, working through matrix structures, regional partners and diverse delivery models. You hold others to high standards of delivery quality, governance and impact.
Funding development and income growth: You understand the landscape of philanthropy, government funding and corporate partnership relevant to food systems. You have experience developing compelling, investable propositions and securing funding from multiple and demanding funders.
People leadership: You build high-performing, inclusive teams. You develop people, create clarity in complexity, and model the values and ways of working that make organisations thrive.
If you are motivated by impact, energised by working collaboratively to make change and ready to lead a programme that is setting the global pace on food waste prevention, we would love to hear from you.
