The Role: The Bioinformatics Student Assistant will analyze sequencing data (RNA-Seq, whole-genome sequencing, metagenomics), write data wrangling and analysis scripts, and support Again's strain-development work. Part-time, 10-15 hours per week, consistent availability on 2 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Analysis of sequencing data (RNA-Seq, whole-genome sequencing, metagenomics)
- - Writing basic data wrangling and analysis scripts for various experimental data sets
- - Performing literature research
- - Reporting analysis results clearly and concisely
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree combining data science/coding and biology (e.g. computational biology, bioinformatics, bioengineering with comp bio focus)
- - Coding experience in R and/or Python and standard bioinformatics software
- - Understanding of best practices in data management and analysis
- - Strong attention to detail; able to work independently
