Category & Insights Manager, USA - New-York Based (Hybrid Working)
WHAT DO WE NEED?
As we continue to expand internationally, we're looking for a strategic Category & Insights Manager to join the Gang. You'll partner with our Commercial, Marketing, and Product teams to uncover trends, crunch the numbers, and turn data into insights that help us stay one chip (or fry!) ahead of the competition.
Working closely with our Head of Data & Insights, you'll help put data at the ROOT of every decision we make. From spotting consumer trends to serving up fresh insights across the business, you'll play a key role in helping Strong Roots grow smarter, faster and stronger. Strong Roots, a certified B Corp, is a veg led frozen food company on a mission to fix the freezer aisle. Founded in 2015 by Samuel Dennigan, the brand was created with the belief that food can be better for people and designed with the planet in mind. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
In this New-York based role you’ll report directly to the Head of Data & Insights, you'll make a positive impact across our entire international business by:
Working closely with us to translate insights into customer strategies to inform decisions and drive performance.
Providing analysis and recommendations to address key business issues through continuous research projects/analysis, ensuring consumer-first decisions.
Serving as the expert for all the categories we play in (and plan to play in!), keeping the leadership team abreast of market trends.
Building strong relationships with our customers' buying and category teams, establishing credibility as a trusted category partner.
Collaborating with: Commercial & Marketing teams to deliver compelling category sell-in stories // Product team to ensure our NPD pipeline takes account of market category trends and opportunities, and inputting into NPD business cases.
Supporting the preparation of brand planning and range review sessions with key customers and responding to marketing requests for key customer meetings.
Translating your insights into compelling stories, graphics and scenarios, in the form of top-class presentation decks.
Maximizing returns from the Regional Insights Budget.
Managing and developing the relationships with key agency partners to maintain a high-quality service.
Ensuring the ongoing tracking of key business objectives (value share, brand health etc.).
HOW WILL YOU STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD?
It’s a very big crowd, but YOU have:
3+ years in Category Management and Insight roles, specifically in CPG.
The ability to both understand the detail and see the wider strategic picture, translating insights into actionable plans for the business.
Confidence in working and influencing across all business functions.
Comfort in presenting complex issues simply and clearly to large groups and senior audiences.
A proactive and passionate approach to putting the consumer at the heart of our decision-making processes.
Strong experience in the major analytics platforms including Spins, Nielsen, Numerator, Circana along with key retailer and distributor platforms.
Experience working with consumer panel and survey methodologies.
Experience in Space Planning (we view this as a bonus).
Bags of knowledge about consumer research methodologies that can be leveraged in new and innovative ways.
A highly efficient, (VERY) detail-orientated and organised approach to your work, with the ability to skilfully manage multiple concurrent projects to meet deadlines.
The ability to influence others across the business, even outside of your department / reporting line.
