Line Manager: Process Engineer Lead

The Process Engineer will provide Process Engineering (PE) expertise to analyse issues and suggest optimization strategies as part of continuous improvement initiatives as well as contribute to engineering projects. The Process Engineer will also provide support to Operational Staff including training and shift support.

Key Responsibilities
- Support/Lead the process to find or develop solutions to technical problems affecting operational requirements and production targets.
- Contribute to establishment of best-in-class process technology by developing, implementing new processes and staying updated on emerging technologies.
- Establish and maintain proactive relationships with team members and interfacing departments including Process technology, Operations, Maintenance, Quality and Projects.
- Support the Process Engineering team and take ownership of assigned deliverables required for capital projects.
- Participate in technical discussions with external parties including, equipment manufacturers, engineering and permitting consultants
- Deliver technical training to operations teams on process and equipment to ensure robust and reliable operation.
- Support in writing and updating plant operations documentation, including SOPs and batch manufacturing records
Key Competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cross functionally
- Ability to re-prioritise when required and work to short deadlines
- Ability to coach operators and less experienced members of the team
- Hands-on approach
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, specializing in Bioscience, Fermentation, or Process/Chemical Engineering.
- Desirable to have minimum of 5 years practical experience in an industrial setting.
- Display practical skills in process engineering.
- Candidates should demonstrate their capability to effectively prioritize both personal and team tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong teamwork skills and a proactive work approach should be demonstrated by the candidates.
Technical Skills:
- Drafting and checking P&IDs and PFDs.
- Equipment sizing and selection, including drafting of equipment datasheets
- Ability to perform process calculations such as control valve sizing and heat transfer calculations
- Expertise in process safety methodologies, particularly HAZOP and HAZID
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex process issues and perform root cause analysis
