Position Overview
The Director of Sales, Food will lead the development and execution of Legendary Foods’ sales strategy across East Coast food retail accounts. This role is responsible for accelerating distribution, deepening customer relationships, and driving meaningful revenue growth across key national and regional partners.
This is a high-impact role requiring strong commercial instincts, customer leadership, and the ability to execute in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Account Leadership
· Own and lead relationships with primarily key East Coast accounts
· Develop joint business plans (JBPs) that align Legendary Foods’ growth objectives with customer strategies
· Negotiate annual agreements, trade terms, pricing, and promotional programs
· Drive distribution gains, shelf placement, and velocity improvements across accounts
Sales Strategy & Execution
· Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets
· Identify whitespace opportunities across channels and geographies
· Partner with brokers and distributors to ensure best-in-class execution in market
· Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategy
Cross-Functional Leadership
· Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to align on forecasts, promotions, and product launches
· Provide customer insights to inform innovation and go-to-market strategies
· Support new product launches and expansion into new and current retail partners
Team & Broker Management
· Lead, coach, and develop broker partners
· Establish clear performance metrics and accountability for execution
· Build a high-performance, results-driven sales culture
Experience & Qualifications
Required
· 5+ years of CPG sales experience, with a strong focus on food/beverage
· Proven success managing East Coast key accounts (e.g., Ahold Delhaize, Wakefern, Wegmans, Meijer, HEB, Hy-Vee etc.)
· Deep understanding of retail dynamics, including category management, trade planning, and promotional strategies
· Demonstrated ability to grow distribution and drive top-line revenue
· Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
Preferred
· Experience in high-growth or emerging brands (better-for-you, functional, or protein-based foods)
· Background working with brokers and distributors in regional/national expansion
· Experience scaling brands within food and natural channels
